KEMP UNVEILS FIRST OF FOUR NEW MULTI-LANGUAGE ELECTION VIDEOS

ATLANTA, GA – Today Secretary of State Brian Kemp unveiled the first of four new video tutorials in English, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese on voter registration, absentee voting by mail, advance in-person voting, and Election Day voting. Kemp encourages Georgians to take advantage of these tutorials with only seven days left until the voter registration deadline and absentee voting by mail already underway for the November General Election.

“I want every eligible Georgian to have the information they need to take part in the electoral process,” stated Secretary Kemp. “These new resources will help voters who are non-English speakers know how to register to vote and prepare to cast their ballot.”

Secretary Kemp initiated this project to ensure every Georgian is informed on Election Day. Individuals can view the voter registration tutorials by visiting Secretary Kemp’s YouTube channel or the Elections Division’s website. All four tutorials will be available to Georgians by week’s end. Kemp will also work with minority advocacy groups to promote the videos in various communities across the state.

“In the Secretary of State’s office, we are dedicated to ensuring every Georgian has the opportunity to register to vote and allow their voice to be heard at the polls,” said Kemp.

Several important dates are fast approaching for eligible Georgian citizens who want to vote in the General Election on November 8, 2016.

The deadline to register to vote or update voter information is October 11, 2016. Georgia citizens can submit an electronic voter registration application using their Georgia driver’s license number or state-issued identification card number on several platforms: Online Voter Registration (OLVR), the free “GA SOS” mobile app for Apple and Android devices, and the recently announced “2VOTE” text messaging pilot project. Individuals can also mail in hard-copy voter registration applications to their county registrar to register to vote by the deadline.

“It has never been easier to register to vote in our state,” said Kemp. “For the first time in Georgia, voters can register to vote or update their information online, via text, or by using the office’s smartphone app.”

By October 11, voters should verify their voting information and, if necessary, update their record. The “My Voter Page” is a great resource to check your voter status, update your personal record, and view individualized voting information to prepare for November.

Absentee voting by mail began on September 20. As of today, 14,729 mail-in absentee ballots have been cast for races on the ballot this November. Advance in-person voting begins on October 17. Georgia law also requires the polls to be open on Saturday, October 29 in all 159 counties for Georgians to vote in the November contests.

In-person voting occurs on electronic voting equipment in Georgia. If you wish to cast a paper ballot, you must request an absentee ballot by November 4.

Georgia is not a “covered jurisdiction” under the federal Voting Rights Act to offer election information in other languages. Ballots and related election materials are printed in English.

Currently, there are over 6.5 million registered voters in the Peach State.

With start-up financing from the Ford Foundation, Obledo co-founded the now largely corporate-funded Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund in 1968. His angry promise cited above leaped to mind Friday when we learned that the innocuously named illegal alien lobby corporation “Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials” welcomed some interesting — and powerful — guests to a recent breakfast fundraiser gala in metro Atlanta.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp and Attorney General Sam Olens, Republicans both, participated in the 12th annual GALEO “Power Breakfast” moneymaker last Friday. State Rep B.J. Pak (R-Lilburn) was also there.

What do powerful Republican Georgia politicians helping finance the anti-enforcement GALEO have to do with the quote above from MALDEF’s Mario Obledo?

The executive director of GALEO is community organizer Jerry Gonzalez. Before he was awarded with the leadership of GALEO, he was a Democratic fundraiser and MALDEF lobbyist at the Georgia Capitol, where he is known for his vitriolic outbursts at Republican legislators. Gonzalez and his anti-borders corporation have actively fought every immigration enforcement bill under the Gold Dome, including HB 87 of 2011, and Gonzalez has brought the leader of the Socialist Workers party into Georgia to fight for driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.

As a certain indicator of growing political power in what this writer now sadly refers to as “Georgiafornia,” Gonzalez crowed for weeks that Republican Governor Nathan Deal would assist with the GALEO funding campaign by attending Friday’s event and would offer some “welcoming remarks.” Alas, political insiders report that Deal cancelled at the last minute.

The pre-printed GALEO event program with Deal’s name and a “thank you” list of the Georgia corporations that sponsor GALEO can be seen on my MDJ blog and on the Dustin Inman Society Facebook page. Western Union, Georgia Power, Coca Cola and Cox Communications are just a few of the non-politician Gonzalez financiers.

Gonzalez boasts on the GALEO website that All-American luminary Jane Fonda was a “founding friend.” With their tacit endorsement, it looks like Deal, Olens, Kemp and Pak have joined “Hanoi Jane” in supporting the GALEO/Gonzalez agenda.

An abbreviated list of Gonzalez’s accomplishments on behalf of the open-borders, brown-supremacist goals include fearlessly marching in the streets of Atlanta demanding an end to enforcement of American immigration laws. They also include denigrating Cobb Police and Sheriff Neil Warren for supposedly creating “an environment of fear through active racial profiling and intimidation targeting the Latino community within Cobb County” by doing their jobs.

Readers with long memories may remember the 2007 federal approval for the Cobb sheriff’s office use of the life-saving federal 287(g) program that expanded the authority to locate and hold illegal aliens who had been captured for other crimes. “This has set us back tremendously” a seething Gonzalez said then.

Donations to GALEO help with its opposition to voter ID as “anti-Hispanic” and Gonzalez makes it clear that making English our official language would be an “insult to our culture.”

I watched in person several years ago as Gonzalez marched in protest of then-CNN newsman Lou Dobbs with a large group of fellow travelers carrying signs calling Dobbs a “racist” and other placards reading “THIS IS OUR CONTINENT- GO BACK TO EUROPE!” I asked some of the group with Gonzalez where my black friends who opposed illegal immigration should return to.

“Africa” was the quick and defiant reply.

State Rep Katie Dempsey (R-Rome) must be quite curious about Gonzalez’s newly revealed Republican supporters. Four years ago, the Rome News-Tribune reported that a very angry Jerry Gonzalez shadowed the diminutive legislator around a Rome event focused on E-Verify until “Gonzalez, who began yelling at Dempsey when the meeting ended,” was escorted by local police from the property.

GALEO has staged multiple fundraisers a year since its creation in 2003. From the event program, about $40,000 would be a very close estimation of the amount of operating funds the aforementioned Republican officials helped GALEO raise last week.

Gonzalez has every right to be rolling in laughter at his success with GOP politicians — yet they will no doubt cling to claims they are “conservatives.”

I wonder any of this will come up at the Republican state convention this weekend?

Remembering Kemp’s promises on illegal immigration

Gov. Brian Kemp has regularly boasted of his business-first approach to governing and enhancing the climate for corporate profit in Georgia. But the watchdog media has neglected to note the tradeoffs he has made or the trusting conservative voters he has betrayed by ignoring campaign promises.

Surprising few political insiders, illegal immigration seems to have dropped off of the governor’s radar since Election Day 2018.

The left-leaning Georgia Budget and Policy Institute says Georgia is home to more “undocumented workers” than green card holders. The federal Department of Homeland Security says we host more illegals than Arizona.

This, despite state laws passed nearly every year since 2006 to make Georgia inhospitable to illegal immigration. The regulations in place — including the state’s E-Verify laws — would serve the intended purpose if they were actually enforced — or even noted — by Gov. Kemp.

Georgians should realize most illegal immigration is a direct result of illegal employment and must be recognized as the organized crime that it is. Kemp is silent on the entire issue.

“Business friendly” is a term that is counter to “pro-enforcement” on immigration. Dalton conservatives have their own problems in that Republican state Sen. Chuck Payne has pledged his allegiance to the billionaire-funded, anti-enforcement group FWD.us that lobbies in Washington, D.C., and the state Capitol. Payne has described his work with the group as “a moral imperative and a political obligation to my constituents and the health of our country and economy,” according to Georgia Recorder.

Conservative voters who can remember back to the summer of 2018 may recall “Brian Kemp’s Track and Deport Plan,” an extremely detailed campaign promise aimed at illegal aliens who commit additional crimes. “As governor, conservative businessman Brian Kemp will create a comprehensive database to track criminal aliens in Georgia. He will also update Georgia law to streamline deportations from our jails and prisons” went the pledge. We challenge readers to find mention of any of this from the governor — or the Georgia media — since he was elected.

All this is yet another brilliant example of “silence is consent” and will continue until GOP voters find the courage to challenge the governor and the business lobby that has taken over the Gold Dome.

Georgia Governor Appoints Replacement Insurance Commissioner with Ties to Anti-enforcement Immigration Lobbying Group, GALEO

Yesterday, Georgia Republican Governor, Brian Kemp, announced his appointment of a metro-Atlanta police chief, John King, to be the replacement for the now-suspended elected Insurance Commissioner, Jim Beck. In Georgia, Insurance Commissioner is a statewide, constitutional office.

Jerry Gonzalez, Executive Director of the corporate-funded, anti-enforcement lobbyist group, GALEO, was quick to send out a media release praising the “historic” appointment and boasting that King had assisted the activist group as keynote speaker at a GALEO breakfast fundraiser several years ago.

“Congrats to Chief King, close friend of @GALEOorg !” was the much-repeated celebratory post on the GALEO Facebook page.

Kemp’s Insurance Commissioner appointee has no background or experience in the insurance industry.

Kemp’s appointment of the GALEO-connected police chief to Insurance Commissioner comes as a shock to many Republican voters in the state. Georgia’s conservative U.S. Senator David Perdue stopped the Obama nomination of a one-time GALEO board member, Dax Lopez, to a federal bench seat in 2016 because of his concern with the GALEO relationship.

Perhaps unknown to most Republican voters, in addition to marching in the streets of Atlanta against enforcement of existing federal laws on immigration, GALEO and its director are well-known in the state Capitol for lobbying against state legislation aimed at reporting criminal aliens to federal authorities and establishing an official database of illegal aliens serving time in the state’s prison system.

GALEO lobbies against voter ID, official English and local jails honoring ICE detainers. Executive Director Gonzalez is known to verbally attack female legislators when he does not approve of speeches or positions on illegal immigration. In 2011, Gonzalez posted this angry explanation of being asked to leave the Georgia Capitol when he lashed out at state Senator Renee Unterman for a speech she made on the floor of the senate.

In 2011, GALEO’s Gonzalez was escorted out of a Rome, Georgia luncheon that featured a panel discussion on immigration when he began yelling at diminutive state Rep Katie Dempsey as reported by the Rome News Tribune.

Kemp has yet to take action on illegal aliens

I still recall days of old when bold politicians called for reforms to protect the people of Georgia from illegal aliens. Unfortunately, as I repeatedly read stories in the press about rapes of women and children, murders and robbery, my memory brings back then candidate Gov. Brian Kemp’s promise to “track and deport” criminal aliens in Georgia.

I suppose the governor hasn’t had the time or the inclination to follow through on his promise, or was it just a politician pandering to his base? Perhaps the governor’s staff isn’t keeping him apprised of the seriousness of the current situation?

I didn’t have to look too hard to find some recent statistics for criminal aliens lodged in Georgia’s prisons. Here are the numbers and crimes for November 2019, compliments of the Georgia Department of Corrections:

• Child molestation, 234.

• Murder, 162.

• Rape, 127.

• Aggravated assault, 116.

• Armed robbery, 110.

• Statutory rape, 63.

• Kidnapping, 63.

• Trafficking meth, 137.

• Racketeering, 12.

I imagine the heads up at the governor’s office will roll when he finds out just how bad things have become in regard to criminal illegal aliens. Or will they?

The governor certainly has it within his authority to implement the plan he ran on.

Dear Governor Kemp,

John King, friend of GALEO, for constitutional office, really?

This is the second time in less than six weeks that I have felt it necessary to write a letter to you concerning the leftist GALEO group that fights against immigration enforcement and all things conservatives hold dear.

I had to read the news twice to fully soak up the fact that a Republican governor (you) who ran on “rounding up illegals” has actually appointed a man (John King) who helped GALEO raise funds to operate and who is a close friend of GALEO director, leftist Jerry Gonzalez.

Appointing someone to a high and powerful office because he was born in Mexico in a hope to produce more Hispanic votes is insanity. It is clear that the Kemp administration is operating on the “diversity at any cost” theory and has lost all commonsense. You may want to stop listening to the AJC’s liberal political insider and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce on immigration and policy – and you definitely need to at least appear to honor your campaign promises on illegal aliens.

I see vote records on D.A. King’s website that show even the gift of amnesty did not help the Republicans with Hispanic votes since 1986. If I can see it, why can’t you? I offer some help in the form of facts from the Dustin Inman Society website that your advisors may be hiding from you:

“After the “one time” Reagan amnesty of 1986, Hispanics rewarded Republican George H.W. Bush with 30% of their vote – Trump got 29% in 2016.

Clinton finished the San Diego border fence in 1994 and still got 72% of the Hispanic vote in 1996. It doesn’t look like capitulation pays off for Republicans or that enforcement costs Democrats.

Governor Kemp, my friends who are Hispanic and conservative already vote Republican. It looks like you are trying to change that fact. I wish I hadn’t voted for you.

It was pandering, weakness and political expediency that killed Dustin Inman. This appointment is a very good example of why I am a conservative who is not a Republican.

Illegal Alien Employer Arrest an Enforcement Opportunity for Kemp

The news that a Mexican illegal alien amassed a large fortune by illegally operating a construction company while employing other illegal aliens and living in a Bartow County compound — complete with a security wall and armed guards – presents a golden opportunity for Gov. Brian Kemp. That is, if the new governor wants to make clear his determination to fight illegal immigration.

It cannot be said enough: The chief cause of illegal immigration is illegal employment. Reduce the former and see less of the latter. Fewer illegal aliens equals fewer crimes committed by illegal aliens. It seems obvious.

As the anti-enforcement Georgia Budget and Policy Institute was kind enough to remind us last summer, Georgia is home to more illegal aliens than Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders). Only the most politically blind and naïve still hold out hope that congress will accomplish anything meaningful on ending the illegal immigration crisis.

The logical conclusion is that state and local governments should use all available tools to make Georgia as inhospitable as possible to illegal employers and illegal aliens. That would include unapologetic enforcement of state laws already in place.

Which brings us back to the governor and Juan Antonio Perez, the illegal alien recently busted by the feds and who reportedly had somewhere around 200 employees “almost all of them here illegally.”

Kemp should consider having the GBI obtain the employment records from all of the companies operated by Perez, if he has any. Including the I-9 forms. The I-9 form is the outdated, 20th century paper device used to collect and record identity verification documents presented by new employees to the employer.

It is impossible for an illegal alien to complete the I-9 process without use of false or stolen ID. Georgia has a state law for that.

Intended to severely punish ID fraud in the process of obtaining employment, Georgia’s “Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011” (HB 87) put OCGA 16-9-121.1 in place.

“Offense of aggravated identity fraud”
(a) A person commits the offense of aggravated identity fraud when he or she willfully and fraudulently uses any counterfeit or fictitious identifying information concerning a real, fictitious, or deceased person with intent to use such counterfeit or fictitious identifying information for the purpose of obtaining employment.”

The law says that a first offense “shall be punishable by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than 15 years, a fine not to exceed $250,000.00, or both…”

To our knowledge, the law has not been enforced.

The governor can send a strong signal to illegal aliens who have little reason to avoid living and working in Georgia by application of this statute and prosecution of the victims of borders who now fearlessly commit identity fraud to reside, work illegally and lower wages in Georgia. Let’s start with the black market labor that worked for Juan Antonio Perez.

Pro-enforcement conservatives are watching.

I have learned that Dax Lopez is a possible appointee to Superior Court in DeKalb County and that you have final say on that choice.

We urge you to reject Lopez for any promotion in the court system. As we hope you know, he spent more than a decade as a proud member of the board at the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO) while that far-left outfit lobbied under the Gold Dome against enforcement of our immigration laws.

Dax Lopez has already been rejected by both of our U.S. Senators for federal court. We hope for that same outcome in your consideration for his current and quite unbelievable nomination for the empty seat in DeKalb County.

Like lots of conservatives all over the state who voted for you, we are watching this very closely.
