You can always depend on the liberal AJC
Or, when is calling someone a âracist pigâ itself âracistâ? (when the AJC says it is)
Part 1
In early 2017 Democrat Congressman John Lewis made it publicly clear that he did not regard President Trump as a âlegitimate presidentâ. He cited âRussian interferenceâ in the 2016 presidential election and was treated as a hero in the media. The liberal AJC ran this story.
In a dumb reaction, a Republican Gwinnett County (GA) Commissioner, Tommy Hunter, said Lewis was a âracist pigâ in a personal Facebook post on his own time. The liberal AJC ran this story.
Kevin Riley, Editor in Chief, AJC.Photo: AJC
All hell broke loose.
Lewis, now deceased, was black and a Democrat. Hunter is white and a Republican. You may see where this is going.
The Georgia Democrats howled that Hunter must immediately apologize – and resign his commission seat.
A leftist activist who did not live in Gwinnett County filed an ethics complaint against Commissioner Hunter. The process for that complaint â and the endless press coverage – lasted about six months.
Hunter, it seems, was a âracistâ according to the “progressives” for calling Lewis a âracist pigâ. Hunter told me that it was âsix months of hellâ which is the intended and sure-to-come penalty for talking back to the far-left.
There was no complaint, ethics or otherwise, against John Lewis and the contrived and false Russian interference story was fed for another three years before it would fade from the media story line, including at the liberal AJC.
Lewis never apologized and was never asked to apologize.
Commissioner Hunter, who had to hire an attorney was eventually âfound guiltyâ (the complaint was upheld) by a Gwinnett County ethics board which recommended Hunter be sanctioned by the Gwinnett County Commission. Hunterâs lawyer was a black American.
Hunter was officially sanctioned by the Republican-led commission, with a weak, dim and pandering Charlotte Nash as Chair.

The liberal Atlanta Journal Constitution created a âtimelineâ to keep readers the story alive.
Way back when, Gwinnett, once a desirable place to live was also a Republican stronghold. It was so nice a place to live that eventually newcomers moved in in such numbers and had such a drastic effect of the standard of living that the liberal Saporta Report ran a detailed 2012 story entitled âGwinnett Countyâs dramatic demographic shift illustrates question: âWho are We?â which included some astonishing facts straight from county officials and stats. While the article would not be tolerated now (too much information on immigration) it is well worth your time to understand not only metro-Atlantaâs Gwinnett county, but the entire state of Georgiaâs political change.
Gwinnett has been officially taken over by the Democrats.
Here in December 2020, Gwinnett County Commissioner Tommy Hunter, who had zero chance of reelection stepped down at the end of his third term. To celebrate, the liberal AJC ran another “racist”- themed story on Hunter with the headline âTommy Hunter wants Gwinnett to remember him for more than racist postsâ.
Moral to our short report? You can always, always depend on the liberal AJC.
_________
Part Two coming soon: This is half the story. When time allows, we will explain what happened in Gwinnett County in 2019 when a Democrat county commissioner calls a pro-enforcement, conservative âracistâŚâ and used the discredited SPLC as a source from her seat on the commission during an official meeting. And how the AJC covered that adventure.
The commissioner is black. The pro-enforcement conservative is white. You may see what is coming.

John Lewis bonus and âhate-factâ: In 2011 Congressman John Lewis led about 5000 screaming, defiant illegal aliens and their handlers in a raucous protest in front of the Georgia state Capitol demanding then-pending state legislation aimed at illegal immigration and illegal employment (HB 87) be defeated and made it clear that if passed the illegals would not obey the law.
(I wrote the illegal alien protest rally up here for the Marietta Journal Constitution newspaper).
Lewis told the foreigners (Lewis spoke in English. Most of the event was conducted in a foreign language) in the USA illegally that âWe all live in the same house, if any one of us is illegal then we all are illegal.â âThey cannot arrest us allâŚâ
John Lewis entire speech to the mass of street screamers in 2011:
âGood afternoon, my sisters and brothers. Thank you to every one of you for being here. As Martin Luther King Jr said on one occasion, âThereâs not anything more powerful than the commitment and the dedication of a determined people.â You are determined.
You, you must not give up. You must not give in. Continue to do everything possible to keep this bill from passing [crosstalk 00:00:44]. Many, many years ago, when I had all of my hair and a few pounds lighter. When I was involved, counseling in the civil rights movement, I got arrested a few times, 40 times.
I was beaten, left bloodied but I didnât give up, and you must not give up. [crosstalk 00:01:22] immigration, itâs not a state issue, it is not a county issue, it is not a city issue, it is the issue of the National Government and not the Government of the state of Georgia.
As a matter of fact, we all are brothers and sisters. It doesnât matter whether weâre Black, White, Latino, Asian American, Native American weâre one people, weâre one family.
We all live in the same house, if any one of us is illegal then we all are illegal. Thereâs no illegal human being. Iâve said over and over again, all across America, we must say out to the state of Georgia and to other states that we do not want Arizona-type legislation here in the state of Georgia.
So, keep it up. If any of you get arrested and go to jail, Iâm prepared to get arrested and go to jail with you. If one of us are arrested, if one of us are put in jail, we all should be put in jail. The jails in Georgia, the jails of America are not large enough to hold all of us.
Get out there. Get out there. Make some noise, work hard and we will get justice here in the state of Georgia and all around America. Organize. Organize. Speak up, speak out, keep the faith.â

The liberal and often wildly inaccurate AJC crew do not want you to read a coming new conservative website. And they are willing to prove it.
While we know nothing about something called âGeorgia Starâ (update, Jan 16, 2021 Georgia Star News here) it is apparently heavy on the Atlanta Journal Constitution editorâs minds. They have run two separate hits warning readers against what the AJC calls âreally fake news.â
The editors also rely on the fellow travelers at far-left SPLC-like Media Matters to âproveâ their allegation of wrong thought and the admonition to dismiss what ever you may read in a news outlet that isnât even open yet. âSo before you âlike,â âsubscribe,â or âforward,â a story you just canât believe, consider the sourceâ say the keepers of the new truth at the AJC.
The first warning we noted came in the daily âJoltâ section of the AJCâs Political Insider gossip column/blog.
Known for inaccurate, outlandish and false claims on pending state legislation and pro-enforcement immigration activists (that go without correction) the liberal AJC explains that âwe fully expect outlandish claims, false accusations, and dirty tricks between now and January 5th.â You can see that here from November 10, 2020 (scroll down.)

Dear editor,
After watching a summer of violent riots and destructive fires in American streets and the screams of âWhite Supremacist!â during the removal of what the far left regards as âracistâ statues, we see Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden hold a campaign rally in Warm Springs, GA. âBiden delivered a message calling for bipartisanship at a time of turmoil, wrapping himself in the legacy of former President Franklin Roosevelt on a grassy mountaintop not far from where the New Deal Democrat once had his private retreatâ wrote the AJC.
What we did not see was any reminder of Rooseveltâs trial-free round up of innocent Japanese Americans and their forced confinement in what are surely now labeled as âconcentration campsâ at the outset of WW ll.
We always assumed the program managers at BLM and Antifa are not independent history buffs, but what about AJC editors? Does this mean the âerase-our-history-now!â revolution is on hold? Itâs very confusing.

In a Monday order, Judge William M. Ray II dismissed the case, brought by the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials and other groups, saying that the secretary of stateâs office and the Gwinnett elections board didnât violate the federal Voting Rights Act, as the lawsuit claimed.
âNonetheless, this Court recognizes that Plaintiffs’ end goal of ensuring that Spanish-speaking Gwinnett voters receive bilingual absentee ballot applications is a reasonable and desirable outcome,â Ray wrote.
He said, though, that GALEO and the other groups lacked the standing to make the case. Ray said in his order that the individuals who said they werenât sent Spanish-language ballot applications were able to get them from the county, and did vote. He added that a Spanish-language ballot application was accessible on the county website.
Jerry Gonzalez, GALEOâs executive director, said he disagreed with the judgeâs analysis…. Read more here.

Ev, our neighbor for 35 years and DIS board member addressing the room.
Dear AJC,
In a stunning abuse use of the term, the AJC recently referred to the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO) as a âcivil rights groupâ in a news report on their failed lawsuit against Gwinnett County involving foreign language voter ballots.
GALEO, funded by corporate-Georgia, is notorious for its long history of actively fighting against official English for government, voter ID and marching in the streets of Atlanta against immigration enforcement. GALEO has actually lobbied to convince local governments to refuse to honor ICE detainers when dangerous criminal illegal aliens are found to be in local jails and organized rallies against state laws to require public employers to use the federal E-Verify program aimed at insuring illegal labor does not take taxpayer-funded jobs.
As a proud, long-time board member of a citizen-funded group that advocates for an equal application of the law on immigration and for official English for government, this sixty-something, pro-enforcement Black conservative knows a civil rights group when he sees one.
Regarding GALEO: Being anti-official English and anti-enforcement on immigration does not a âcivil rightsâ group make.

Tough illegal immigration law ignored
Tough illegal immigration law ignored
Legislature provided no funds for enforcement; municipalities fail to register for program
By CAMERON McWHIRTER, MARY LOU PICKEL
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Sunday, January 25, 2009
A key goal of Georgiaâs 2006 law cracking down on illegal immigration was simple and controversial: stop undocumented immigrants from earning wages paid by taxpayers.Supporters heralded the provision as one of the nationâs toughest because it orders local governments, their contractors and subcontractors to confirm the legal status of new hires.
REGISTRATION GAPS
A review of the Homeland Security database shows that 21 county governments out of 159 have not registered with E-Verify. None of these counties were in metro Atlanta or other urban areas of the state. In nine of the counties that did not register, the school systems did sign up for E-Verify. And 234 chartered cities and towns out of 536, most of them small, rural communities, have yet to sign up.
But the provision has amounted to less than proponents hoped and critics feared. No one in state government is enforcing the law. No one at the state level has checked to see whether governments and businesses are complying. And nothing happens to them if they donât.
A year and a half after the law required every government in Georgia to sign up with the federal Homeland Security Department to verify the legal status of new hires, the Georgia Department of Labor has no idea what agencies or governments are complying. The department is tasked with setting guidelines for implementing the 2006 Immigration Security and Compliance Act.
Supporters of the law say if this basic task isnât done, they canât have confidence that the rest of the law is being taken seriously. Other provisions call for illegal immigrants arrested for a felony or DUI to be reported to immigration authorities, and for governments to make sure they donât give welfare to illegal immigrants.
The reason for the lack of accountability: The Legislature never provided money to monitor the law.
âAs far as any enforcement responsibilities under the law, we donât have any,â Labor Department spokesman Sam Hall said.
Hall said the agency posted guidelines on its Web site and offered to do random audits â if it received funding. Asked whether anyone in state government knows which agencies and governments are complying with the law, Hall said: âThere is no central agency that has the authority to do that.â
Many sign up year late
The law, which started as SB 529, requires all government offices to sign up for the federal employment verification program called E-Verify. Itâs a free national database designed to check whether someone can legally work in the country. All businesses with more than 100 employees doing government work are supposed to be registered by now. The smallest businesses doing work with governments arenât required to sign up until July.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found most Georgia governments have signed up for the computer program that matches an employeeâs name against Social Security and immigration data. Many were a year late in doing so. But some smaller governments still havenât signed up.More importantly, no one has determined whether governments that have signed up are actually using it.Local officials who routinely use the system said E-Verify hasnât had an effect on their hiring. In many towns, hiring has slowed because of the economic downturn.
Most metro Atlanta governments have enrolled in the program. Notable exceptions include Doraville and Lithonia. College Park signed up Jan. 13 after being contacted by the AJC.Rhonda Blackmon, the city clerk of Doraville, said the city will sign up for the program. Lithonia Police Chief Willie Rosser said, âThis is the first Iâve heard we had to do it.ââThere is no stickâ
The law contains other ways to crack down on illegal immigration. It uses the state tax code to tighten loopholes for those who declare themselves âindependent contractors.â Some employers use independent contractors as a way around hiring laws. If employers donât follow the new tax rules, they could be penalized if the state Department of Revenue audited their business. The provision requiring jailers to check the legal status of anyone booked on a felony or a DUI also has problems. For instance, a prisoner may bond out of jail before the feds call to hold the person on immigration violations.âThere is no state oversight of any of this stuff,â said Terry Norris, executive vice president of the Georgia Sheriffsâ Association.
Mark Newman, an attorney at Troutman Sanders who advises businesses about the immigration law, said âmost businesses are cluelessâ about what the compliance act requires. He said he wasnât surprised by slow response from counties and local governments.âThere is no stick,â he said. âIt doesnât seem like there is much motivation or incentive.âThe absence of enforcement has been frustrating to state Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock), who was the lead sponsor of the bill and a vocal opponent of illegal immigration. Rogers, who is Senate majority leader, said he does not plan to introduce any enforcement changes to the law this year. He introduced such an amendment last year that became mired in the House.
Therefore, heâs waiting for the House to take action. Rogers said he has had many conversations with local and county officials who say they didnât think they had to comply with the law. Many governments were slow to sign up.âThe argument is always, âI didnât know I had to,â â Rogers said. âSome donât know they have to, and some simply arenât doing their job.â
Enforcement funding iffy
Supporters of the law argue the Legislature needs to spend money on enforcement. In a news conference this month at the state Capitol, D.A. King, president of the Dustin Inman Society, a Marietta-based group pressing for stricter immigration laws, said the Immigration Security and Compliance Act âis being laughed at by many of the local officials in this state. ⌠I never dreamed it would be the local governments of Georgia that would defy the law.â Opponents argue the lack of compliance is proof the legislation is unworkable. They contend the cash-strapped state shouldnât spend money on enforcement. âThis is just a bad law and a bad idea,â immigration attorney Charles Kuck said. âItâs a waste of time and money and effort, and it gave the state a black eye.â
Between the two sides are local government officials.âSmall cities with few employees, or a part-time manager, may not know they have to comply with E-Verify,â said Amy Henderson, spokeswoman for the Georgia Municipal Association. Janice Truhan, city clerk of Jonesboro, signed up in July and has been following instructions and tutorials ever since. Lately, she said, the E-Verify system has been acting up and wonât let her process new applications after she enters her password. âItâs not an easy system to use,â Truhan said.
King said he will push this session for money to enforce the legislation or to authorize the state to withhold money if governments donât comply. But Kuck said that the state, facing a large budget shortfall, probably wonât do anything to finance enforcement.âIt will just sit there,â he said of the law. âNo one in the state of Georgia will vote to overturn it because it would be political suicide.â

UPDATE # 2 – After sending an open records request to both city of Braselton (where the AJC tells readers Vital Foods plant is located) and to city of Gainesville, which is the address on the Vital Foods website, I received response from both informing me that the business is not located in either place – but in Hall County. So I sent a request directly to Hall County Business License Director Susan Rector. I admit that my request could have been more clear on the fact that I am looking for copies of the required documents for original issue AND annual renewals. I sent this August 17, 2020 10:37PM:
Using the time frame 2011 through and including 2020, please respond to this request with copies of all documents pertaining to the application for business license for Vital Foods LLC, including application, SAVE affidavit, E-Verify affidavit and Secure and Verifiable ID used to prove identity. What I received – only copies of documents from 2017 – is posted here. It cost me $21.96. none of the documents Hall Co Business License Dept uses are in compliance with the state law. More on the soon.
After reading a news report in the liberal AJC yesterday, I have sent open records requests (around 1;15 PM) to both the city of Braselton and the city of Gainesville asking for a look into Vital Foods poultry processing plant which the AJC says is in Braselton. According to the Vital Foods website, they are located in Gainesville.
Also, in the liberal AJC news piece, they say “many immigrants” cannot get Social Security Numbers. Which is nonsense. I also sent the below letter to the editor with little hope of publication.
Dear editor,
A recent AJC news story focused on Hispanics, âimmigrantsâ and the Covid pandemic informs readers that some testing labs require Social Security Numbers and that âmany immigrants donât have them.â This assertion is another in an endless flow from the liberal media aimed at blurring the lines between immigrants and illegal aliens.
Real immigrants should have no problem obtaining an SSN. âGenerally, only noncitizens authorized to work in the United States by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can get Social Security numbers, which are used to report a person’s wages to the government and to determine a person’s eligibility for Social Security benefitsâ (SSA).
It is true that illegal aliens working illegally donât have their own SSNs, but they do use stolen numbers â itâs called identity theft.
Not for the first time, we offer AJC editors a foolproof method of discerning the difference between immigrants and illegal aliens: Immigrants do not require amnesty.
