Those of you who do not yet follow DIS on Facebook or Twitter may not know of the recent passing of Dustin Inman’s Dad, our friend, Billy Inman. I regret the oversight of not posting this sooner.

Billy passed away peacefully on June 7th at age 55.

After the horrific and fully preventable car crash caused by an illegal alien that killed Billy and Kathy’s only child, Billy was not only active in immigration crime fighting, but was a faithful and loyal caretaker to Kathy, who sustained a brain injury in the crash that killed Dustin. Kathy has been confined to a wheelchair since that day in June, 2000.

Billy Inman was one of the strongest men I have ever known.

The Cherokee Tribune has done a terrific job of telling the Inman’s story, I hope you will read it here.

PLEASE HELP:

Also, Kathy needs financial support to help her stay in her home. PLEASE see the Go Fund Me page set up to collect donations for Kathy here.

Adios, Billy. We miss you.

American family separation: It’s not a “Happy Father’s Day” in Georgia – Billy Inman writes on the seventeenth anniversary of his only child’s death at the hands of an illegal alien

Billy and Kathy Inman, 2016 CBS 46, Atlanta

Yesterday marked seventeen years since a horrific traffic crash in which sixteen year-old Dustin Inman was killed by an illegal alien to whom the state of North Carolina issued a drivers license and to whom someone gave a job. The illegal alien had encounters with local law enforcement several times prior to ruining the Inman family’s world but was released each time. Dustin was the only child of a salt-of-the-earth Woodstock, Georgia family, Billy and Kathy Inman. Dustin’s killer escaped custody shortly after the incident and has not been re-captured. The U.S. government has told the Inmans’ that he is in Mexico and cannot be extradited.

(Personal note: We will not forget that the topic of immigration has been treated as radioactive by all concerned – and victims like the Inmans’ have been ignored in the seemingly endless, big-money political campaign in Georgia’s 6th District where I live.)

Below is draft of a letter Billy Inman sent to us to pass on. A version of this letter was published in the Gilmer County News – the county in which Dustin was killed. You can reach out to the Inmans’ at Billy’s e-address: lookin4em@ (yahoo.com) or on Billy Inman’s Facebook page.

Hey folks this is Billy Inman. This Father’s Day weekend marks seventeen years since the tragic day we lost our son Dustin who would have been 33 years old now.

His Mom, my wife Kathy, is in the shape she is today – in constant pain in a wheelchair and dealing with doctors every week – because an illegal alien Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez (an “everyday illegal alien”) slammed into our car at an estimated 62 mile an hour and still hasn’t been held accountable for the horrific pain he caused our family.

Our government knows where Gonzalo is but they say there’s nothing they can do about it because he’s in Mexico. (note: here is a letter from DOJ to the Inman family) But it happened here and I want to thank President Trump for what he has done on illegal immigration and I believe that’s what got him elected. I got to meet him back in October. I feel he wants the best for America and his handshake truly has meant the world to me.

Dustin Inman, forever sixteen

We have been invited to Washington several times but Kathy’s condition caused by the illegal alien forced us to cancel three times. In April, the government flew us to Washington for the opening of the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) which is an official an advocate to help victims of illegal aliens created by President Trump.

I truly hope something will be done so that you won’t have to go through what my family has. It’s not right. Our thanks to President Trump and all who have helped battle this problem.

This shouldn’t be a sanctuary for illegal aliens and those who have fled the U.S. for the crimes they have committed should be brought back for justice.

ATLANTA (CBS46) –

He campaigned on a promise to crack down on illegal immigrants currently living in the U.S. and now that he’s been elected, Donald Trump says he’s going to follow through with his plans.

Trump said he would immediately begin the process of deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records but those already living here who haven’t been convicted of a crime are fearful of what the new policies mean for them.

Advocates of the plan, like Bill Inman want the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants deported. For Inman, the issue is personal.

His wife Kathy is in a wheelchair after she and the couple’s only son Dustin were involved in a drunk-driving crash 16 years ago with an alleged undocumented immigrant behind the wheel. The crash killed Dustin, who was 16 years-old at the time.

“I don’t get to hug my son,” said Inman. “I don’t get to have him help me do whatever in the yard or on the truck. I won’t be a grandpa.”

Inman says the driver accused of killing Dustin and severely injuring his wife was never convicted and returned to Mexico. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind and says he is hopeful that Trump will follow through on his campaign promise.
Trump has softened his stance on deportation since being elected but still says he plans to begin proceedings on the 20 to 3 million people who have been convicted of a felony after crossing into the U.S. illegally.

On the other side of the coin, those undocumented immigrants already living in the U.S. who have not committed a felony remain fearful as they wait to find out what will happen. One such person who wants to remain anonymous crossed over into the U.S. 17 years ago. She is a working mother of three and she say she and her children are living in fear.

“My younger son, he’s afraid. He’s just scared. He’s asking me the question if I’m getting deported,” the woman told CBS46 News.

Carlos Garcia of the Pro-Immigrant Alliance says calls have more than doubled to his organization from Georgians who have crossed into the U.S. illegally, wondering what will happen to them. While Garcia supports deportation of those convicted of violent crimes, he wonders where it will stop.

“The only thing we’re worried about is this is going to create some form of persecution against people who has a need to drive to work. Hard working families, splitting them apart,” said Garcia.

Billy Inman in the MDJ – letter to the editor: THANK YOU Senator Perdue for stopping GALEO’s Dax Lopez’ confirmation

Dustin Inman, killed by an illegal alien – Billy Inman is Dustin’s Dad

Letters to the editor

January 28, 2016

DEAR EDITOR:

I write a short note to say a genuine THANK YOU to Georgia Sen. David Perdue.

The fact that Sen. Perdue stepped up last week and made it clear that Obama’s nominee to fill an empty federal court seat in Georgia was a horrible idea came as huge and very welcomed news.

Federal judges, once confirmed by the senate, serve a lifetime term. Obama had offered up a man named Dax Lopez to be a judge in Georgia’s northern district. Dax Lopez was a member of the board of directors of a radical immigration corporation called “GALEO” for eleven years and only resigned when Georgians spoke up against his confirmation.

A corporate-funded advocacy group, GALEO opposes immigration enforcement, voter ID, local jails holding criminal aliens and English as our official language. As Lopez made crystal clear, he “agrees with GALEO’s mission.” Having a federal judge who openly supports amnesty is clearly wrong for Georgia.

Sen. Perdue boldly used his authority as a home-state senator and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee to terminate any further consideration of GALEO’s Dax Lopez.

I hope Georgians of all descriptions will contact Senator Perdue’s office and offer a well-deserved message of gratitude. The senator saved us from perhaps 30 years of Dax Lopez and his agenda on the federal bench. To be clear: Sen. David Perdue stepped up when others didn’t and did the right thing for Georgia … the political outsider done good!
