Billy Inman letter to editor in the Cherokee Tribune …consequences
Dustin’s Dad, Billy Inman in the Cherokee Tribune:
Thanks to commissioners for stand
DEAR EDITOR:
I want to say a little bit about illegal immigration and thank the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners and others across the United States who are taking a stand on this problem to discourage illegal immigration, not just here, but all across the United States.
No one is exempt from illegal immigration. It seems to be getting worse daily, just look around. Anything done or trying to be done on this problem is a plus, but more has got to be done.
I am very concerned with illegal immigration. It changed my life as I knew it Father’s Day weekend of 2000 when an illegal immigrant driving negligently ran into my family’s car at estimated 62 mph while we were stopped at a red light. It took my son’s life at the scene and nearly took my and my wife’s lives, too. My wife is still in a wheelchair and the man that caused this can’t be found.
Death like this isn’t right and isn’t acceptable and I feel it’s preventable if our federal and all of our governments would enforce our laws and secure our boarders. It’s illegal aliens’ decision to come illegally (they know the consequences when they come) and I feel they need to take the consequences that come with their actions – not us.
