Welcome to Republican-ruled Georgiafornia

March 28, 2014

Columnist

In early January, the sad prediction from this weary denizen of the Gold Dome was that it would be after the November mid-term elections before pro-enforcement immigration conservatives would be put on the full-time defense in Republican-ruled Georgia.

I was very, very wrong. That change is here.

The adventures of legislators regarding immigration, protecting public benefits and English as our common and official language in the state Capitol during the 2014 General Assembly will likely come as a surprise to most of the sometimes-unaware Republican faithful who accept what “political experts” often feed them. Four examples that I know of:

• The leadership of Republican super-majority Georgia Senate refused to allow SB 404 out of the Rules Committee for a vote by the full body. The bill was aimed at ending the practice of issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens who have been rewarded with “deferred action” on their deportation proceedings by President Barack Obama. As the White House acknowledges, these illegal aliens who have been promised an exclusion from the same rule of law governing Americans are still illegal aliens. They do not have “lawful status.”

Early in the session, when informed of the fact that illegals were obtaining drivers licenses, more than one confused legislator howled that “It isn’t our fault, Obama did this with his DACA virtual amnesty!”

True enough. But they have the power to adjust Georgia law to stop these — and future — illegal aliens from accessing the de facto national ID card issued by Department of Driver Services as well as the other benefits they are now collecting.

When finally given a chance to vote on an allowing an amendment with the language of SB 404 to be attached to another bill (SB 392) only eight state Senators voted “Yea.” Why? The business community and the far-left ethnic lobby opposed the action.

You can see how your own senator voted on my MDJ blog page.

There was no legislation offered in the Georgia House aimed at keeping drivers licenses from illegal aliens.

• The leadership of the Republican state Senate refused to allow SR 1031 out of the Rules Committee for a vote. The resolution would have simply allowed the people of Georgia to vote on a November ballot question on amending the state Constitution to make English the constitutional official language of government in the Peach state. If approved, it would also have ended the dangerous practice of offering the written driver’s license exam in 11 foreign languages.

A similar ballot question passed in Oklahoma in 2010 by a 76 percent margin. Nobody in the Capitol believed the result would be much different in Georgia.

Republican Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle runs the Georgia Senate.

• Despite having been educated on the appointment, the state Senate confirmed Gov. Nathan Deal’s shocking appointment of a radical anti-enforcement immigration activist to the Board of Corrections. Rocio Del Milagro Woody, also on the board of Jerry Gonzalez’s Jane Fonda-funded GALEO, will serve her five-year term after all.

You can see how your own state senator voted on my MDJ blog page.

• The Republican Georgia House passed a bill (HB 1051) that would have removed safeguards from public benefits protection law and allowed the illegal aliens who have driver’s licenses to more easily renew those benefits. The vote was 167-3.

You can see how your own state House rep voted on my MDJ blog page.

After HB 1051 passed the House, it was amended and made even more illegal alien-friendly by a Senate committee. Having finally bent to the rising awareness and public outrage, on day 39 of the 40-day session, the bill died on the Senate floor at almost midnight. The vote count was 19 “YEAs” and 34 “NAYs.”

You can see how your state senator voted on my MDJ blog page.

It has been clear for years that the various business interests who demand “cheap” foreign workers were becoming more and more brazen in their state-wide efforts against protecting American workers. But the hopeful assumption was that the pressure of the looming election, the fact that Georgia suffers more illegal victims of borders than Arizona and Republican Gov. Nathan Deal’s reelection campaign would be sensitive to the values of the conservative base — at least until fall. Like I said. Very wrong assumption.

The above is going on while many past state immigration laws are treated as “compliance optional” and while Border Patrol Agents risk their lives daily. And while Obama is in the process of expanding the number of illegals he is rewarding with ‘deferred action’ on deportation.

How did your state Senator vote to stop issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens?

Posted by D.A. King at 7:18 am - Email the author   Print This Post Print This Post

The Heath Amendment to SB 392 would have added the language of SB 404 to the bill, with co-signers Senators Mike Crane, John Albers, Josh McKoon, William Ligon and Judson Hill, failed by a vote of 27-8.

NOTE: This vote was not tallied on the public Senate vote machine and was done by a “stand and be counted” hand vote that was not officially recorded. Handy, ehh?

A “YEA” vote on the amendment was in favor of illegal aliens losing the ability to access a Georgia drivers license. A “NAY” vote on the amendment was a vote to continue to allow illegal aliens to have a Georgia drivers license.

Rumor Mill: South Georgia farmer and Republican state Senator Tommie Williams to switch political parties? On Obama administrative amnesty for illegal aliens:”If President (Barack) Obama gave them a legal status, we should respect that and let them live in peace”

Posted by D.A. King at 11:43 am - Email the author   Print This Post Print This Post

Tommie Williams remembers nearly all of the Chamber/Ag/ACLU/La Raza talking points! $

The take-away? Obama can circumvent congress, the rule of law and cheapen the very tradition of borders and American immigration and it is fine with Tommie Williams.

Because, as Tommie has told me several times, we have a labor shortage! We need the workers!

Below is a translated news report from here in Geogiafornia concerning Georgia’s lurch to the anti-enforcement cliché-ridden left. Obama’s DACA illegal aliens and potential future Democrat voters, according to Dear Leader, are still illegal aliens and DO NOT have legal status.

Google translation to English: Republican state Senator *Tommie Williams to the foreign language press after convincing the Georgia Senate to kill an amendment that would have ended practice of issuing drivers licenses to DACA illegal aliens. March, 2014.

“If President (Barack) Obama gave them a legal status, we should respect that and let them live in peace.”

According to Williams, it is not fair that they want to remove the ‘dreamers’ privilege to drive legally as punishment for a mistake made by their parents.

“This is a country of laws, and if they gave you permission to be here, it is because they have met the requirements for that,” he said.

The senator said that in the past and passed a law that affected the agriculture and he learned from that lesson. Refers to HB87, requiring papers to immigrants working in the field, which has left millions in losses in the field.

Note: Tommie Williams (contact) is a South Georgia farmer.

*The rumor is that Republican state Senator Tommie Williams is going to switch parties.

Complete news report from Mundo Hispanico – March 5, 2014:

Fracasa iniciativa ‘antidreamer’

The ‘dreamers’ breathe calmer today after the Senate voted against an initiative that sought to leave them without a license.

A group of senators from Georgia this week made a last attempt to revive discreetly considered a bill ‘antidreamer’, which failed to pass the full during the regulatory period.

With 27 votes against eight in favor, the state Senate rejected a proposed amendment to SB392, which would have removed the permission to handle the beneficiaries of deferred action, a federal program known in English as DACA. That meant the same SB404, which stalled a few days ago after not being considered by the Senate Rules Committee, which left its promoters unhappy.

The SB392, which itself was discussed in plenary, proposes certain changes to vehicle registration, so these lawmakers, led by Rep. Bill Heath, saw an opportunity to try to add the amendment because it had some relationship.

Activists who watch over the rights of immigrants locally feared this would happen, so early hours of last Monday came to the Capitol to lobby.

At noon, representatives of the Hispanic, Asian and African American communities held a press conference where he again condemned the measures that threaten foreigners.

The business sector also made it clear that any action against immigrants affect the state in general, he urged politicians to be “more human” with their proposals.

In an attempt to discourage them from creating anti-immigrant laws in the future, several Asian merchants divided between aisles Gold Dome biscuits with messages that highlighted the contribution of outsiders in the state’s economy.

PHOTO: Helen Kim Ho, executive director of Asian American Legal Advocacy Center (AALAC) georgia invited state lawmakers to be more humanitarian immigrants.

Rivals of the same party

Ironically, the amendment group of Republican lawmakers was rejected after facing strong opposition from other influential Republican senator.

After Heath presented his arguments in favor of the measure, including beneficiaries mentioned that DACA it had to continue to be considered “illegal no rights to anything,” his counterpart Tommy Williams took the floor.

Williams urged other senators to vote against the amendment to prevent more drivers they would walk in the streets without a license and driving without insurance.

Also stressed that the ‘dreamers’ are just some guys who were brought here without your consent, who studied in “our schools” and only want to better themselves.

His words raised controversy, as the promoters of the initiative tried to make him look bad. MundoHispánico was the only Latin means to give coverage to this debate. Ultimately, the amendment was put to the vote and was standing by failing to majority vote.

Some of the Hispanic students who were in the Capitol thanked lawmakers rejected the measure, especially Williams, who was named “Hero” by value.

Pedro Marín also the representative for their support, because although you can not vote in the Senate, was present trying to convince his colleagues of the Senate to vote against the amendment.
At the end of the day, the ‘dreamers’ celebrated the result, although they are aware that there is still risk of a successful similar measure in the remainder of the term.

Senate Democrats Curt Thompson and Vincent Fort, who in the past have been marked by support for immigrants, no opinion in this debate, although both are among those who voted against the initiative.

That afternoon, state lawmakers also voted against the resolution SR1031, known as ‘Inglés Only’.

The initiative aimed to prevent the exams to become licensed Georgia driver were in English only, and not in any other language like Spanish.

In an attempt to deter state politicians to create a future anti-immigrant laws, Asian traders distributed on Capitol Hill some cookies with messages that highlighted the contribution of foreigners in the economy of Georgia.

“I had to do”

MundoHispánico addressed to Senator Williams at the end of the debate to know why he decided to fight against the measure that originated within his own party.

“It’s common sense,” said the legislator to this medium. “If and President (Barack) Obama gave them a legal status, we should respect that and let them live in peace.”

*UPDATED The trouble with Georgia’s HB 1051 – or – welcome to Georgiafornia

Posted by D.A. King at 10:56 am - Email the author   Print This Post Print This Post

NEW: UPDATE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 2014. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO DIDN’T GIVE UP!

We won one last night! Here is the added info I promised. I hope you will take your time and try to “get it.” And make it a point to extract some promises from your own state legislator for the future: “THOU SHALT NOT CAVE IN TO THE ANTI-ENFORCEMENT LOBBY OR VOTE FOR BILLS YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND.”

As a direct result of the pressure we created with our calls and emails, HB 1051 was defeated late last night in the Georgia Senate. If you want to see how your own state Senator voted on this deceptive legislation, see HERE.

· VIDEO If you want to see the Senate vote on official archived video see HERE, go to “Senate PM 5” and slide the timer to 33:11-52:24

Read more: The Marietta Daily Journal – House legislation designed to make life easier for illegal aliens to access public benefits in Georgia defeated in the state Senate

Note: Republican Senator Tommie Williams, a true bleeeding heart liberal on immigration and enforcement tried very hard to convince others to pass the bill.

Not much of the discussion in the Senate Chamber had a basis in fact. An amendment that would have made the bill less horrible was defeated before HB 1051 itself was put to death. This bill was an effort from ACCG/GMA the Chamber of Commerce and other well-funded anti-enforcement interests to undo the progress we have made on protecting public benefits from illegal immigration multiple times since 2006. If you don’t know about them or who funds ACCG/GMA see HERE.

More from WSB-TV on ACCG/GMA HERE (3 minutes, very educational). Note nearly everyone at these groups are trained, well-paid and professional fabricators)

Reminder: The DACA illegal aliens are still illegal aliens and do NOT have legal status in what remains of the United States of America. Obama is right now, as I type, scheming to try to expand this illegal massive deferred action on deportation. The same people who voted “YES” to this scam bill would vote “YES” to help out the next potential Obama-amnestied wave of “victims of borders.”

I am waiting for the video of last night’s Senate session to be posted. You can see the Dustin Inman Society blog page and Facebook page later to see how the Republican-controlled state Senate acted on this mess.

***

So far this year the Republican-controlled state Senate has:

1) Voted to allow DACA illegal aliens to obtain and keep Georgia drivers licenses.
2) Refused to allow Georgia voters to decide on a ballot question in November regarding making English our official state language of government, which would also have stopped offering the written DL test in 11 foreign languages.
3) Voted to confirm Governor Deal’s appointment of the radical Democrat anti-enforcement leftist Rocio Del Milagro Woody to the state Board of Corrections.

Now we have HB 1051 to fight.

HB 1051 (Dickson- R, Dalton) would virtually assure that existing public benefits laws – designed to stop access by illegal aliens – would never be obeyed. Not that they are now. It is designed to allow the Georgia drivers licenses now issued to illegal aliens to be used to access professional licenses and taxpayer funded public benefits.

Georgia’s HB 1051 – a solution looking for a problem? Or a clear atempt to further enable illegal aliens in Georgia?

***How did this thing get out of the House? Here is how.***

I have spoken to the author, Rep Tom Dickson (R-Dalton) twice about HB 1051. He says his intent was to make it easier for US citizens to renew their teaching licenses. Teacher’s licenses are public benefits under 50-36-1. He doesn’t want renewal applicants to be required to gather and present the documents they used the first time, on issue, when they renew their licenses. He will not accept my word that we already solved this problem in 2013 with what started out to be SB 225 (Hightower) and ended up as SB 160 (Ginn).

• The code already provides for U.S. citizens who have proved that citizen status once, when applying, to the same issuing agency, to not have to prove it again. The non-citizens (aliens), whose status can change from day to day are required to prove eligibility (with legal status) each time.

50-36-1 (4) “The requirements of this subsection shall not apply to any applicant applying for or renewing an application for a public benefit within the same agency or political subdivision if the applicant has previously complied with the requirements of this subsection by submission of a secure and verifiable document, as defined in Code Section 50-36-2, and a signed and sworn affidavit affirming that such applicant is a United States citizen.”

If we go by the author’s stated intent, the bill is completely unnecessary.

• HB 1051 originally applied to professional licensing boards within the SoS office. Which was bad enough. We have enough problems getting department heads to understand and obey the current single system. But the current version of HB 1051 has been expanded to include “any department, agency authority or commission.” The intent is no longer as presented above.

• The author is apparently under the wildly mistaken impression that the July 2012 start of DDS becoming compliant with the 2005 federal REAL ID Act has somehow changed the paragraph above from 50-36-1. It did not.

• With the insertion of the language that excludes the “Limited Term” drivers licenses issued to the DACA illegal aliens since 2012, that Senate Reg Ind committee made a bad bill less bad, but still a sure tool to insure spotty compliance.

• When the bill was sent back to same Senate committee for the sole purpose of having Limited Term language intentionally removed, the motivation became very clear: HB 1051 is now a bill that is intended to allow these illegal aliens to use the DLs to obtain and renew professional licenses and pother public benefits. NOTE: I think DDS is also issuing state ID cards to the DACA illegal aliens too. They will not answer me on this question. This would be counter to the AG office opinion/advice of July, 2012. I have a copy of that letter.• 2013 SB 122 (Hunter Hill) further complicates this mess because it allows temp drivers licenses to be valid (120 days) beyond that date on which a visa expires if the holder says he has applied to fix or renew visa.

This bill should be allowed to perish in the Senate or be withdrawn. It poses a great deal of future political troubles (we promise), even if the “Limited Term” language is re-inserted.

Any/all HB 1051 votes on the Senate floor should be recorded.

PRO-ENFORCEMENT AMERICANS LOSE AGAIN IN THE REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED GEORGIA SENATE

Yesterday about noon, the Republican-controlled Georgia Senate confirmed Republican Governor Nathan Deal’s appointment of GALEO’s anti-enforcement leftist, Ms. Rocio Del Milagro Woody to the state’s Board of Corrections.

While referring to illegally present aliens as “immigrants” and immigration enforcement as “anti-business,” Deal’s newly appointed corrections board member Del Milagro Woody has publicly spoken-out against the federal 287(g) program, Attrition Through Enforcement, and complained that immigration law in Arizona “has encouraged Georgia politicians to claim that illegal immigration is costing jobs and threatening the economy.”

The vote for confirmation of the list of the Governor’s appointments was 39 “YEA” 13 “NAY” and 4 not voting. You can see how your own state Senator voted.

The official Senate vote record is HERE. ADDED: My own state senator, Judson Hill voted “NO” – but then sent a letter to the Secretary of the Senate asking that his vote be changed to “YES.”

The Republican Majority Leader moved to dispense with the reading of the list of appointments. There were no objections to the motion or the inclusion of Rocio Del Milagro Woody’s appointment.

If you want to watch the short Senate video archive of this vote, it is HERE . Debate at 211:30 Vote at 218:00.
__

Last week the same Republican-controlled Georgia Senate voted down an amendment to legislation that would have ended the issuance of drivers licenses to illegal aliens. You can see how your own state Senator voted on that disgraceful issue HERE.

A Senate Resolution that would have allowed Georgia voters to answer a November ballot question on amending the state constitution making English the official language of governemnt and ending the current practice of offering the written drivers license test in 11 language other than English was not allowed to escape from Senate Rules committee. The same resolution passed in Oklahoma in 2010 by 76%.

All of this is due to the orders from the Chamber of Commerce and big business.

Welcome to Republican-ruled Georgiafornia.

NOTE! Added 15 March 2014: Upon educated complaints to some Republican Georgia state Senators, we are hearing that the Senators are telling constituents that they had no choice on voting on the confirmation of Rocio Del Milagro Woody, because the Governor’s List of Appointments was “presented in a bundle.” This is not true. as you can see on the video, the Senators had to vote to waive the individual reading of the names on the list. They knowingly created a bundle after having been warned and educated on Gov. Nathan Deal’s appontment of this lefist Democrat.

I personally stood at the door of the Republican Senate Caucus meeting the week before they voted an handed out a printed copy of the above Breitbart News article.

WE SUGGEST THAT THIS INFO GO OUT TO HOME DISTRICTS TEA PARTY AND 9/12 GROUPS AND COUNTY GOP GROUPS AND THAT THE 7 MINUTE VIDEO OF THE SENATE VOTE BE SHOWN IN PUBLIC.

Georgia’s Republican-controlled state Senate: Who voted to continue to allow DACA illegal aliens to obtain and keep a Georgia drivers licenses? VIDEO

Georgia state Senate

Who voted to continue to allow illegal aliens to obtain and keep Georgia drivers licenses?

Ever ask yourself what really goes on under the Gold Dome? Here’s something. There is a link to official video at the bottom. See if you recognize anyone.

With a Republican-super majority, on March 3, 2014 -“Cross-over Day” – the Georgia state Senate voted on an amendment to legislation related to drivers licenses. Republican state Senator Bill Heath, unable to move his own bill out of the Senate Rules Committee, attempted to attach the same language to SB 392.

The amendment’s addition would have stopped the issuance of drivers licenses to illegal aliens who have benefitted from Obama’s illegal delayed action on deportation DACA amnesty. It is important to know that the DACA illegal aliens are still illegal aliens.

The Heath Amendment, with co-signers Senators Mike Crane, John Albers, Josh McKoon, William Ligon and Judson Hill, failed by a vote of 27-8.

There are 56 state Senators. 38 Republicans, 18 Democrats. For the Obama-voters, this vote shows that 21 members of the Senate did not vote.

*Subtracting the “YEA” votes and the excused list of excused senators (who did not vote) gives us the list of Georgia state Senators who voted “NAY” on the amendment. Or did not vote. This is called “walking” on a vote, often so as not to offend anyone politically.

Pro-enforcement, conservative values vanishing under the Gold Dome:Georgia state Senate vote coming on confirmation of Governor Deal’s appointment of anti-enforcement leftist to Board of Corrections

ANTI-ENFORCEMENT CHAMBER-OF-COMMERCE-ORDERED LIBERALISM FLOURISHING UNDER GEORGIA’S REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED GOLD DOME

Governor Nathan Deal leads the retreat

In October, I made you aware of Georgia’s Republican Governor Nathan Deal’s appointment of anti-enforcement radical Ms. Rocio Del Milagro Woody to the state Board of Corrections. I also posted the story on Breitbart News HERE. But, the appointment is treated as a secret in the state Capitol.

Make no mistake, Rocio Del Milagro Woody is a far-left open borders menace who has no place in Georgia government.

Here is a sample of her attitude on immigration enforcement:

“While referring to illegally present aliens as “immigrants” and immigration enforcement as “anti-business,” Deal’s newly appointed corrections board member Del Milagro Woody has publicly spoken-out against the federal 287(g) program, Attrition Through Enforcement, and complained that immigration law in Arizona “has encouraged Georgia politicians to claim that illegal immigration is costing jobs and threatening the economy.”

One day between now and March 20 when the 2014 Georgia General Assembly ends, the governor’s office will send his 2013 list of appointments to various boards and positions to the Republican-controlled Senate to be approved. With a recorded vote that will be public record and reported from here. Rocio Del Milagro Woody’s appointment is not final and complete without the confirmation of the state Senate. That body can insist that her name be removed from the list before a vote or they can simply vote no.

To be clear: Your Senator will be voting whether to confirm Deal’s appointment of this associate of Jane Fonda.

I have made the entire Republican Senate aware of this debacle and passed out printed copies of the Breitbart News article to them in the Capitol. No Senator can claim ignorance on this.

This is the same Georgia Senate that refused last week to allow Georgia voters to see and vote on a November ballot question about amending the state constitution to make English the official language of government in Georgia and the same Republican-controlled state Senate that defeated legislation that would stop illegal aliens from obtaining and keeping a Georgia drivers license.

We hope you have noticed that Republican Nathan Deal has been silent on illegal immigration since early 2011. We describe him as a ” willing hostage of Big Business.”

ACTION: If you want, you can contact your own state Senator HERE and let him/her know that you are watching and offer your opinion of the Governor’s appointment. Just leave a message with the assistant who answers your call, or leave a message on voice mail. You can also get a message to Governor Deal (did we mention he is a Republican and running for re-election in November?) by calling his office at 404 656 1776.

We will keep you informed on the outcome of the Senate confirmation vote.

We hope that you understand the importance of the problems outlined above and will make then part of your conversations with your state officials before the next election. Conservative values and common sense in Georgia’s Republican party is rapidly vanishing in Georgia. Your silence can help speed that along.
