Mexican ambassador “endorses” Georgia’s immigration enforcement legislation

D.A. King

February032011

One of the several illegal immigration-related bills currently working its way through the Georgia General Assembly got a big boost this week that drastically increased its chances of passage.

Rep. Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City), the bill’s fortunate sponsor, may want to consider sending a “Gracias” note to Arturo Sarukhan, the Mexican ambassador to the United States for his unintentional but clear endorsement of HB 87, the ‘Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011’. The bill goes to its first hearing today, Feb. 4.

Who cares that if in helping along Ramsey’s bill, the Mexican ambassador is violating Article 55 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 that reads: “Without prejudice to their privileges and immunities, it is the duty of all persons enjoying such privileges and immunities to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving state. They also have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of that state.”

While ignoring the intent of U.S. law is by no means a new practice for the Mexican government, it is interesting – but not surprising – that it so openly demonstrates its disregard for the international treaty to which it is a signatory.

Using the same mindless and race-baiting talking points offered up by the other open-borders proponents, Mexican Ambassador Sarukhan made clear his government’s view of Ramsey’s apparent temerity.

He condemned legislation targeting illegal immigration in Georgia, saying it is “poisoning” the relationship between the two countries. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he said “such bills also could produce unintended consequences, including racial profiling, human rights violations and damage to the economy.”

He argued that Mexican “immigrants” cross the border illegally for jobs, not to give birth or take advantage of U.S. hospitals and schools.” Only he forgot to use the word “illegal.” Or to say that one estimate is that Georgia spends somewhere around $2.4 billion a year on education, health care and incarceration on illegals and their children.

The sounds you do not hear are the loud reminders that about 20 million Americans are unemployed or under-employed. And that black-market, poverty-stricken low-skilled laborers sent here to relieve some of the pressure on Mexican government are lowering wages and displacing Americans workers. “Damage to the economy” indeed.

We are betraying our own poor by importing Mexico’s poorest. Don’t even ask why the Democratic Party defends illegal immigration and constantly opposes immigration and employment enforcement – as they will Rep. Ramsey’s bill.

Some other points and important facts that the Mexican ambassador and the AJC overlooked:

*The United States welcomes more real, legal immigrants than any nation on Earth, more than a million each year. Traditional levels of immigration until 1965 measured less than 300,000 a year.

(Put this American in the growing group of people who recognize we are losing any pretext of assimilation due to the too-high annual numbers and the ongoing devotion to “diversity” and multi-culturalism.)

*According to the most recent federal annual report on immigration flow, at 164,920 it is Mexico that sends us the most legal immigrants each year. China is number two at 64,238, next on the list is the Philippines 60,029 then India at 57,304.

*For those wondering about diversity in immigration, Canada and the U.K. are numbers 17 and 18 on the list at 16,140 and 15,748 respectively. That’s below the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Vietnam, Columbia, South Korea, Haiti, Jamaica, Pakistan, El Salvador, Iran, Peru …and Bangladesh.

Sarukhan and the AJC also left off the part about Mexico being the leader in sending us the highest number of illegal aliens each year.

From the most recent federal estimates of America’s “unauthorized immigrant” population, we learn that Mexico is again number one at 6,650,000 as of 2009. Next on the list? El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras Philippines and India…

The astoundingly arrogant Mexican diplomat overlooked his nation’s real angle on “migration.”

Mexican citizens here legally and illegally send about $20 billion dollars each year back to that paradise to our south in the form of “remittances” which represent, according to the price of oil, either the number one or number two source of income for that third-world, failing narco-state.

From here in Marietta, we are guessing that the Mexican ambassador isn’t going to acknowledge that Mexico uses its military to try to secure its own borders, has an enthusiastic and very efficient internal immigration enforcement system in which “show me your papers” is an unapologetic and normal occurrence.

Or that Mexico regularly deports tens of thousands of illegal border crossers from Central America who are “looking for a better life.” Virtually all of whom happen to be…Hispanic. “Human rights” and “racial profiling” indeed.

Or that current Mexican president Felipe Caldron boasts that, “I have said that Mexico does not stop at its border, that wherever there is a Mexican, there is Mexico…”

Indeed.

Most Americans would be grateful for a president who showed the same level of tenacity and determination in protecting and defending us regarding illegal immigration.

“Some of these initiatives are poisoning the wellspring of the bonds that tie our two countries together,” Sarukhan said in response to questions about Georgia’s bills, reports the AJC.

We can live with that. Don’t let the door hit you on your way out of Georgia, Mr. Ambassador. But thanks for coming. Matt Ramsey was quite grateful for your remarks when I spoke to him yesterday.

Me too.

Dustin Inman Society reaction to initial reading of SB 40: “Preposterous”

In its present form, the Dustin Inman Society opposes SB 40 and will work for substantial changes in its language or its demise in committee.

“On illegal employment, the bill’s author has excluded so many industries from the badly needed required statewide use of the no-cost federal E-Verify system so as to make it a parody of an employment enforcement bill. We also wonder what the phrase “or similar type of application” can possibly mean” noted D.A. King, DIS founder.

“We hope this bill will be the object of greater scrutiny by all concerned.” he added.

From SB 40:
Lines “106 (b) This Code section shall not apply to any person or entity who has filed an H-1 or H-2
107 application, or similar type of application, with the United States Department of Labor.”

We respectfully note that all concerned would be well-served if the news media would finally acknowledge the existence of the H2A visa and provide a short education on this program that allows an unlimited number of legal foreign temporary workers to be imported to work in the nation’s agriculture industry – including Georgia’s. These workers are more expensive to use than illegals who escaped capture at our borders because they cannot be treated as 21st century slaves.

We do like the penalties imposed on official agencies that illegally administer public benefits and the requirement that non-citizens obey longstanding federal law that aliens carry and present federally issued documents demonstrating lawful presence in the U.S. We praise Senator Murphy for these badly needed features and urge him to eliminate the preposterous exclusions on E-Verify use.

Senator Murphy has excluded workers in the entire H1 and H2 visa categories from verification at hiring. Information on the H1 & H2 visas and the industries they can affect below from a simple Google search. This is not meant to be a comprehensive explanation of the visas.

We hope that we have read the bill incorrectly or have overlooked some language that will prove us wrong.

“The H category visa enables one to immigrate to the US as temporary workers. There are various types of H Visa, such as: H1, H 1B, H 2B, H3, and H4., H1A and H1C categories are available for registered nurses to come to the US for temporary employment. On the other hand, the H 1B visa is meant for foreign-based specialist knowledge workers (like scientists, programmers, engineers) to immigrate temporarily to the US for greater professional prospects. HERE

H2B Visa for example

Who qualifies for an H2B visa
The H2B visa is available to employers of foreign non-professionals not working in the agricultural field. This visa is only available for work that is temporary in nature. For H2B purposes, that means:

H2B includes: Hospitality workers, Hotels / Motels, Chefs, Resorts and Theme Parks, Ticket Sales, Cruise ships, Construction workers, Maintenance, Janitorial, Ski Resorts, Landscaping, Golf Courses, Water parks, Security, Ride Operators, Restaurants and bars, Warehouse, Retail Stores. HERE—–

Mexico Denies Existence of Armed Conflict to UN Committee

(Geneva)Mexico told the UN Committee on Rights that there is no conflict in Mexico whatsoever. Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Human Rights Ministry of the Interior of Mexico, Felipe Zamora Castro, said the country is not involved in armed conflicts of an international nature. The report says that it is known there are paramilitary groups in its territory, but has no data on involvement of children in the armed groups. However, a group of nongovernmental organizations presented the Committee with information on “25000-30000 teenagers allegedly linked” to the “drug war”, and that already the drug war “has claimed 35,000 dead since December 2006″
