THANK YOU SENATOR JOHN WILES! PRESS RELEASE – Georgia Senate says President of the United States should secure our borders, enforce our immigration and employment laws and never repeat amnesty/legalization(comprehensive immigration reform) of 1986
Sen. John Wiles Champions Illegal Immigration Legislation
ATLANTA (April 28, 2010) – State Senator John Wiles (R-Kennesaw) lead his colleagues in the Senate to pass Senate Resolution 1395 with a vote of 34-9. The legislation urges the United States Congress and President Barak Obama to secure America’s boarders and reject demands to repeat the failed 1986 legalization program for illegal aliens.
“I stand proudly with my fellow Senators who supported this crucial piece of legislation,” said Sen. Wiles. “As Georgia recovers from the economic collapse, we must continue to protect jobs and resources for legal residents of this state. It has become clear that our budget can no longer withstand the added burden of benefits for illegal immigrants.”
Illegal immigration negatively impacts all aspects of the State of Georgia, including the economy, social services, education services, the criminal justice system, and health care services. Current estimates of the number of illegal aliens in Georgia are between 450,000 and 1 million individuals.
The 1986 legalization program granted more than 3 million illegal aliens citizenship status in the United States. This act served only to reward illegal activity and to encourage further illegal immigration. The enforcement of American immigration laws have proven to be the real solution to encouraging illegal aliens to migrate out of the United States and Georgia while reducing further illegal immigration. Immigration reform must reflect and serve the interests and needs of the American people by addressing the national issues of homeland security and the economy.
This resolution authorizes the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of this resolution to each member of the Georgia congressional delegation and the President of the United States.
