âMexican Senate reproaches U.S. for measures against migrantsâ
[Full transl. of article titled as above. The link below this story takes you to the Spanish language original.]
The Senate of the Republic approved sending a message to President Felipe Calderon so that he may ask the Government of the United States to reconsider the anti-immigrant measures intended to be taken in the neighboring countryâs budget for 2011. All political parties of the Senate reproached the policy change of direction of the American President, Barack Obama, who has decided to go back on the promise he made to all the Hispanic groups that supported him, and now he insists on closing the border. The government of Barack Obama seeks to increase the funds to reinforce border security with 4.6 billion dollars to support 20 thousand agents of the Border Patrol, as well as to finish the first portion of the âvirtual fence.â
The parliamentary majority at Xicotencatl (the street where the Senate Chamber is located,) also supported asking the government of Felipe Calderon to manifest an âestrangementâ because of the anti-immigrant measures that would eventually be carried out, considering them contrary to human rights. The PRI (pol. party) Senator Rosario Green Macias, president of the Foreign Relations Commission (read: committee chairwoman), criticized President Obama severely for going back on the promise he made to the Hispanic groups, who supported him at all times, and for insisting on closing up the border. Besides announcing that he will build the missing portion of the âvirtual fenceâ by means of which everyone who crosses, undocumented or illegally, will be detected and can be immediately jailed and later expelled, (and also) reinforcing the number of agents, for customs as well as for the border. She expressed her worry, âbecause from now on we Mexicans will not know what to believe when we speak with the President of all the Americans, because he is a President who fails to keep his word.â

Obamaâs auntie still freeloading

Hereâs another Obama sweetheart deal you wonât see on C-SPAN.
This morning, the fate of Bostonâs most infamous illegal immigrant, Zeituni Polly Onyango (also known as âAunt Zeituniâ) will be determined in a closed-door hearing.
Why in secret? Because Auntieâs saga reveals every embarrassing truth that amnesty advocates and open-borders liberals like Mayor Tom Menino and Gov. Deval Patrick try to hide.
The most important being that illegal immigrants donât get that way without first doing something, well, illegal.
President Barack Obamaâs Aunt Zeituni admits she illegally overstayed her visa. Instead of obeying the law, she went to a judge in 2003 with a bogus request for asylum. She was turned down. She ignored the deportation order and instead filed an appeal. She was told again: Itâs illegal for you to stay.
Sheâs still here.
Aunt Zeituni donated $260 to her nephewâs campaign for president – which is also against the law because sheâs not a U.S. citizen. How against the law is it? Remember when the president launched his unprecedented attack against the Supreme Court during his State of the Union? His complaint was that foreigners might donate money to influence U.S. elections.
All these crimes extend from the first crime – violating our immigration laws. It is simply impossible to stay in this country illegally without committing other crimes, like tax fraud and identity theft.
But itâs not the illegal stuff that Aunt Zeituniâs doing thatâs so outrageous. Itâs what sheâs apparently able to do legally and openly.
She is shamelessly – and happily – living in taxpayer-subsidized housing intended for citizens and legal immigrants. Is there some poor American veteran living in a shelter because sheâs got this apartment? Aunt Zeituni doesnât care – why should she? Menino and the Boston Housing Authority donât.
And now sheâs back in court, using taxpayer resources with another bogus bid for asylum. She says she canât go back to Kenya because of âpolitical turmoil.â Sorry lady, but if thatâs the basis for an appeal, nobody would have been allowed back in the White House since Scott Brownâs election.
Aunt Zeituniâs case puts the lie to the old canard that all criminal immigrants are here to work. She gets a stipend from a city program, along with her housing. In fact, as the Center for Immigration Studies points out, illegal immigrant households are far more likely to be on the dole than the average American. She also highlights the obvious truth of the Heritage Foundation study that our 12 million illegal immigrants are a $2.2 trillion net drain on the taxpayers over the course of their lifetimes.
All of which ignores the most obvious and angering question: Why are Boston taxpayers stuck taking care of the aunt of the president of the United States?
Sheâs got a millionaire in the family right now, one who also happens to live in public housing, by the way. Heâs got room, too. Worst case scenario, Joe Biden can bunk with Bo.
Instead we get another secret deal thatâs almost certain to keep the taxpayers on the hook. Mr. President, hereâs a problem you can solve with a phone call. Get your aunt a plane ticket to Kenya, or D.C., or hey – how about Nebraska?
Call it the Ben Nelson version of immigration reform. We pay for their Medicaid, Omaha pays for your aunt.

J-No’s World
By Rosemary Jenks,
February 4, 2010,

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano (aka, J-No) in December 2009 assured the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Obama Administration had already made great strides in securing our borders, thus moving us one step closer to âComprehensive Immigration Reform.â
âOur efforts are achieving their desired results at the border. . . . In short, the security of our southwest border has been transformed.â
–Testimony of Secretary Napolitano before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, December 9, 2009
As proof of this outrageously optimistic assertion, Secretary J-No pointed to a decline in the number of illegal aliens apprehended along the border.
â[A]pprehensions of illegal aliens at the border have dropped to their lowest levels in decades, signaling reduced traffic flows and fewer attempts to illegally enter the United States.â
–Testimony of Secretary Napolitano before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, December 9, 2009
Apprehensions have, in fact, dropped from 723,840 in FY 2008 to around 556,000 in FY 2009, and the FY 2009 figure is the lowest since the early 1970s. It is also likely that some of this decline reflects the fact that fewer illegal aliens are attempting to enter the United States, especially considering our double-digit unemployment. However, even DHSâs own inflated estimates acknowledge that the Border Patrol has âeffective controlâ over only 939 of the 6,000 miles of land borders.
Moreover, when I visited with Border Patrol Agents in the Tucson Sector in mid-October of 2009 and asked if they believe the official DHS line that three illegal aliens successfully enter the United States for every one who is apprehended, they laughed. The reality, they said, is that 10 or more get through for every one who is caught. That was two months before Secretary J-No shared her rosy view with the Senate Judiciary Committee.
If the Border Patrol agentsâ estimate is correct, that would mean that illegal aliens successfully penetrated our borders more than 5.5 million times in FY 2009. That doesnât sound much like a âtransformationâ to me. In Secretary J-Noâs world, however, this transformation explains why she has asked Congress for $11.6 million less in funding for âborder security between ports of entryâ and for $225.8 million less in funding for âborder fencing, infrastructure, and technologyâ for FY 2011.
I also have to wonder if the marked increase in the number of armed illegal aliens and the astronomical increase in the number of reported incidents of violence against border agents are part of the âdesired resultsâ that Secretary J-No touted during the Senate hearing. The number of assaults against Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers along the Southwest border increased by 176% in FY 2008. While official data for FY 2009 have not yet been released, anecdotal evidence suggests that violence directed at CBP officers has continued to grow. It seems safe to say that this is not a desired resultâat least not for CBP officers, in any case.
Speaking of armed illegal aliens entering the United States undeterred, the accompanying video was captured by âgame camerasâ (i.e., cameras with motion sensors to activate them) set up by a group of Arizona Minutemen in the Arizona desert in December 2009âthe very same month that Secretary J-No was assuring the Senate that the Obama Administration has âtransformedâ the southwest border. The video you see here is actually three separate video clips caught when the game cameras were triggered on three different days in December. All three are from cameras set up in the Sonoran Desert National Monument, which is comprised of almost 500,000 acres southwest of Phoenix and is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), which has only a small handful of law enforcement rangers to patrol and protect this vast area.

Don’t let immigrants take US jobs
About 15 million Americans are unemployed. Yet Washington allows businesses to bring in about 1 million foreigners a year to take supposedly short-term jobs that many jobless would leap at taking if they could. — It’s a “ridiculous” situation, says Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies…

U.S. Census Director Tour Assures Illegal Immigrants
Tue, 02/02/2010 – 3:35pm
Keeping with the Obama Administrationâs mission to conduct the most diverse outreach campaign in history, the director of the U.S. Census Bureau is touring Mexican border towns with high illegal immigrant populations to personally assure that those who fill out questionnaires this spring will not be deported.
“This is a safe thing for everyone to do regardless of your immigration status,â the presidentâs handpicked census director (Robert Groves) told residents of a renowned illegal alien âcoloniaâ in south Texas this week. He visited several dilapidated makeshift homes off of a dirt road in a Laredo neighborhood called San Carlos to stress that census data will be kept confidential and not turned over to immigration authorities.
Even if the president of the United States asks him for their census forms, Groves told the Spanish-speaking crowd, he can refuse because the law says the forms must be kept private. If he violates that sacred law, Groves further informed the attentive illegal immigrants, he can go to prison. Besides, citizenship status is not even asked on the census questionnaire, assured the Texas congressman (Chicano rights activist Henry Cuellar) who accompanied Groves on this particular jaunt.
The census director is also giving illegal immigrants across the country a lesson in basic civics by explaining that hundreds of billions of federal dollars are allocated to state and local governments based on population. Being included in the decennial count will in turn allow them to receive more public benefits; âWe want to count you and your family can benefit from the services,” Groves is telling illegal aliens.
This marks the latest of many administration efforts to cater to illegal immigrants. A few weeks ago the government launched an unprecedented $133 million advertising campaignâin dozens of languagesâto promote the census with the Spanish ads assuring the decennial count is confidential and cannot divulge respondentsâ immigration status.
The never-before-seen promotional blitz includes television commercials, print and outdoor ads as well as online advertising. Hundreds of ads have been drafted in 28 languages, including two Chinese dialects, Russian, Arabic and Tagolog. The Spanish advertisements, distributed on national television and print media, are of particular interest because they guarantee the safety of illegal aliens who fill out the census forms.
A few months ago the government announced that, in an effort to reach out to illegal aliens, it is spending $26 million to send Spanish-language questionnaires directly to homes for the first time in history. In past years, participants could request special forms in several languagesâincluding Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Vietnameseâbut the effort marks the first time that the government sends to entire regions census questionnaires in a language other than English.

JOY LEWIS/ASSOCIATED PRESS Olga Torres and her husband, Rodolfo De Leon, obtained dual American-Mexican citizenship for their 2-year-old American-born daughter Genesis De Leon. They did so through a campaign being offered by the Mexican government. During a campaign that was initially to run Jan. 12-15, the Mexican Consulate in Atlanta has allowed parents to bring their children to the consulate by 7 a.m. each day to register for dual Mexican-American citizenship. To do so, the child must have been born in the United States and have at least one Mexican parent. Usually, the consulate takes only 20 applications each weekday, but during the campaign the consulate has attended to everyone who arrived by 7 a.m. Because of high demand, the campaign has been extended through Feb. 12, according to the consulateâs Web site.
Mexican parents obtain dual citizenship for U.S.-born child
By ANDREA CASTILLO – acastillo@macon.com
On the morning of Jan. 15, Olga Torres, 40, and her husband, Rodolfo De Leon, 46, woke up at 4 a.m. to make sure they arrived at the Mexican Consulate in Atlanta before 7 a.m.
The two, who are from Mexico and permanent residents of the United States, made the trek nearly three weeks ago to register their daughter Genesis, who will be 3 years old in March, as a citizen of both countries.
During the campaign, an average of 40 people have visited the consulate each day, and the number peaked at 87, said Armando Bello, spokesman for the consulate.
âIn case they want to go back to Mexico, they can go back as Mexican citizens. If they want to come to the U.S., they can come back as American citizens,â Bello said.
As number 53 in line, De Leon and Torres were at the consulate until about 12:30 p.m. before they were processed.
The couple intends to return to Mexico someday, and dual citizenship creates opportunities for Genesis in both countries, allowing her to vote both here and in Mexico. Genesis also needs to be a Mexican citizen to attend public school there, Torres said. Both Torres and De Leon said they place a strong emphasis on education for Genesis, though neither of them finished high school.
