Illegals’ advocate trying to demonize his opponents
August 26, 2009

DEAR EDITOR:

Letter writer Mark Webb (“Don’t muddy health fix with anti-illegals hysteria,” Friday’s MDJ) missed few opportunities to try to associate the crime of illegally entering the United States and illegal aliens with, let’s see here: “demonizing a class of humanity,” “the internment of 110,000 Japanese … during World War II,” “race prejudice,” ill treatment of Chinese in 1882″ and … “slavery.”

As an African-American who supports the equal application of American laws – including immigration laws – I am outraged at Webb’s transparent adherence to the open borders mob’s mindless and insulting talking points. His attempt to compare criminals who steal American jobs, wages and services to the sin of slavery is a step too far.

I am a proud member of the Board of Advisors of the Dustin Inman Society and someone who gladly volunteers time and effort to gain enforcement of existing immigration laws. I also help fight the never ending battle against another legalization program for illegal aliens because I recognize, as does the majority of America, that rewarding illegal behavior only produces more of it.

I share the concern of D.A. King, Congressmen Phil Gingrey, Tom Price, Nathan Deal and others about the fact that while the president is telling us that illegal aliens will not be included in a “public option” of Obamacare, the House Democrats repeatedly vote down amendments that would require verification of eligibility.

I guess that in Webb’s world, I am part of a “shady conspiracy.” Maybe illegals are too honest to apply for universal health care at taxpayer expense under false pretense?

Webb notes, as King has numerous times, that presently, we are forced to finance medical care for illegals in our emergency rooms. What he doesn’t acknowledge is the fact that that requirement was intended for life threatening conditions only … emergencies.

A visit to any local ER any evening of the week will illustrate the fact that our ERs are now illegally used as de facto free clinics for illegal aliens, emergency or not.

No reasonable person can pretend that without a vigorous verification system, illegals would not easily gain access to whatever taxpayer funded public option total health insurance that were to come out of the liberal minds now in power.

Direct from the far left handbook, Webb’s real goal is clear. To demonize anyone who presents questions or information that stands in the way of government controlled health care and amnesty.
