WHERE ARE OUR GEORGIA SENATORS ON THE FACT THAT FEDERAL FUNDING FOR E-VERIFY IS DUE TO EXPIRE IN NOVEMBER?
I don’t know either, and the silence is deafening.
Let’s find out. Today.

As I hope everyone understands, the NO COST federal E-Verify system is a Web based data base that all employers in the United States can use to verify employment eligibility of newly hired employees. The system, authorized in 1996 is voluntary and has been constantly improved over the years and is deemed to be 99.5% effective in verifying employment eligibility. ( DO NOT CONFUSE E-VERIFY WITH THE ELIGIBILITY OF APPLICANTS FOR PUBLIC BENEFITS VERIFICATION IN THE SAVE PROGRAM – E-VERIFY IS FOR EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION ONLY).
From DHS:
“Currently, 99.5 percent of all work-authorized employees queried through E-Verify were verified without receiving a Tentative Non-confirmation (TNC) or having to take any type of corrective action. Those employees whose work authorization cannot be instantly verified are given the opportunity to work with SSA or USCIS, as appropriate, to confirm their work authorization. USCIS estimates one percent of all queried employees choose to contest an initial, tentative result from E-Verify showing that their work authorization could not be verified, and only half of those who contest that result are ultimately found to be authorized. The most recent statistics appear to show that the share of legal workers who are not instantly confirmed by E-Verify as work authorized is decreasing further, but those numbers need more study. Furthermore, on May 5, 2008, E-Verify implemented a series of important enhancements which will continue to improve the accuracy of the system’s automatic confirmation processes.”
The U.S. House has passed a bill that would reauthorize and fund E-Verify for 5 years. Working for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce interests of even more “cheap” labor, Senator Menendez is holding the Senate’s vote on E-Verify hostage with his demand that we allow 550,000 more workers into the U.S. if we want to see the employment verification system renewed. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is very powerful in Washington and is firmly against the entire concept of E-Verify.
FOLLOW THE MONEY EVERY TIME.
There are a variety of reasons that we are hearing nothing from our Senators on this I guess.
Maybe they are unaware of the fact that the Senate is adjourning this week and the vote on E-Verify funding must be made before they leave Washington?
Maybe they don’t know that we know and are watching them closely?
Maybe the lack of any recent press releases on their Websites or comments in public supporting the continuation of E-Verify is because the dog ate their homework?
Maybe with un employment skyrocketing we need to stop use of E-Verify so that illegal aliens can steal even more American jobs and lower the wages of American workers?
Maybe the Chamber of Commerce has more effect on their actions on this than we do?
WHATEVER THE REASON FOR THE DEAFENING SILENCE, WE NEED TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT JUST BECAUSE THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND EMPLOYMENT, WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN!
I AM ASKING THAT EVERYONE HERE MAKES TWO CALLS TODAY & TOMORROW TO EACH GEORGIA SENATOR AND RESPECTFULLY BUT FIRMLY REMIND THEM THAT WE WANT TO HEAR THEM SPEAK OUT ON REAUTHORIZING AND FUNDING E-VERIFY BEFORE THE SENATE ADJOURNS. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND IS VERY TIME SENSITIVE. PLEASE CALL AS SOON AS YOU CAN.
I understand that Senator Saxby Chambliss is running for re-election this year – and that Senator Isakson will run again in two years.

Less than a week to save E-Verify
Last week Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) attempted to bring E-Verify to the Senate floor for a vote, but, once again, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has blocked E-Verify and won’t let it pass unless he is allowed to add hundreds of thousands of foreign workers to our struggling economy…
