White House wants a $1.4 billion package⊠for Mexico
A reader asked me to check into information that President Bush was pushing a massive foreign-aid package to Mexico to help them secure their southern border against the flow of illegal aliens from Central America. —
âWe canât even get our own border straight, and we are going to provide Mexico with funding so they can solve their problem,â the reader fumed.

License laws may tighten
Senate bills give tougher penalties for driving without a license and outlaw so-called “sanctuary” cities.
Dave Williams
ATLANTA â The Senate approved legislation Thursday that would stiffen penalties for motorists caught repeatedly driving without a valid Georgia license.
The bill, which passed 38-13 and now goes to the House, would make the crime a felony on the fourth offense within five years. Violators would face one to five years in prison and a fine of $2,500 to $5,000.
This is the second year in a row Georgia lawmakers have debated the measure.
It was criticized last year as a thinly veiled attempt to target illegal immigrants. Then, after the General Assembly passed the bill, Gov. Sonny Perdue vetoed it over concerns that it could affect newcomers to Georgia who donât get their driverâs licenses within 30 days of moving into the state.
But the billâs sponsors worked with the governorâs staff on a rewrite that addresses that issue, said Sen. John Wiles, R-Marietta, who introduced it in 2007 and again this year.
Under the new version of the legislation, first-time violators could have the charge dropped upon showing the court hearing the case proof of a valid Georgia driverâs license.
âIf you have the ability to get a Georgia license, weâre not going to punish you,â Wiles said.
The billâs potential use as a weapon against illegal immigrants didnât come up during Thursdayâs debate on the Senate floor.
But opponents raised other objections, including whether it would be used against temporary residents of Georgia, either from other states or other countries, who have no intention of settling down here.
âIf a person doesnât want to live in this state, they donât want a Georgia license,â said Sen. Gloria Butler, D-Stone Mountain.
Butler, who is African-American, also argued that the bill would increase racial profiling of motorists by police officers.
But Sen. Ronald Ramsey, D-Decatur, another black lawmaker, said he saw too many drivers with no licenses or suspended licenses appear in his court during the seven years he served as a municipal judge.
âIt is a great offense … for people to consciously get in a car day in and day out and drive without a license,â he said. âI have put people in jail for far less.â
The Dustin Inman Society, an anti-illegal immigration group based in Marietta, worked last year to get the bill passed and continued to support it this year.
The organization is named in honor of a local youth who was killed in a crash involving a driver who was in the country illegally.
In other action Thursday more directly related to illegal immigration, the Senate passed a bill to prohibit so-called âsanctuary citiesâ in Georgia.
Some cities in other states have adopted policies preventing their officials or employees from passing along information on the immigration status of any person they come across to the federal government or law enforcement agencies.
The legislation passed 45-8 and now goes to the House. HERE

Here in Georgia, the sheriffs in Hall ( Steve Cronic) and Whitfield ( Scott Chitwood ) counties have joined my own Cobb County sheriff, Neil Warren, in taking advantage of federal 287 (g) training for some of their deputies to expand their authority to enforce immigration laws.
Georgia now has three sheriffs using 287 (g) with another, Sheriff Scott Berry in Oconee county, soon to follow. Because of our Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act of 2006 (SB 529), the Georgia State Patrol is also using 287 (g).
For readers who may not be familiar with the program, please read all about it here.
I am not aware of another state with more use of 287 (g) and we at the Dustin Inman Society will continue to educate and encourage law enforcement officials to take advantage of the now tweleve -year- old federal program. We are very proud of our part in this and these sheriff’s courage.
The results of checking the immigration status of people booked into county jails is clear: Illegal aliens who have committed additional crimes are being reported to ICE and many have been deported. In Cobb County Georgia alone, as of the 1st of January, 750 illegal aliens have been taken out of the county jail by the feds since the program began on July 1st.
Illegal aliens are migrating out of Georgia because of one simple fact: Enforcement works. Use of 287 g is a deterrent. What we are seeing is attrition through enforcement.
You can read about the effects as outlined by the parasitic open borders lobby here from Jerry Gonzalez of GALEO, friend of Jane Fonda, former MALDEF goon and Georgia’s most visible shameless far left whacko illegal alien guardian. ( Bio here)
WE NEED A LITTLE HELP: I am asking that Americans from all over the nation help us here in Georgia with two phone calls ( use your cell phone, it’s free) one call each to sheriffs Cronic and Chitwood.
In the next week, I am in hopes that we can deliver thousands of calls of thanks and appreciation of attention to duty to the sheriffs of Hall and Whitfield counties here for their courage in implementing 287 (g).
Doing so will only serve to alert other sheriffs – all over the nation – that Americans want all available tools used and the law equally applied. Contact info below.
Please take the time to thank these brave law enforcement officers. Bonus: It drives the open borders lobby loco!
Sheriff Steve Cronic of Hall County contact info HERE.Sheriff Scott Chitwood of Whitfield County contact info HERE.
If you have time for a third call, please let my friend, Cobb Sheriff Neil Warren know how much we all appreciate his being the first sheriff in Georgia to implement 287 (g). HERE.
RELATED NOTE: BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND THAT AMNESTY-AGAIN WOULD BE THE END OF MY NATION, I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN. EVER.
Cronic earns praise for enforcing 287(g) law
I applaud Sheriff Cronic for his courage and attention to duty in implementing the 287(g) section of the 1996 amendments to the Immigration and Nationality Act in having some of his deputies trained to expand their existing authority to enforce American immigration law. So should the legal residents of Hall County.
Here’s wishing that in addition to applying the law to illegal aliens, he could also deport the illegal employers who have a better chance of being struck by lightning than being punished for violating some of the same laws.
From years of studying the results in many other jurisdictions that have done what Sheriff Cronic has, and seeing first hand the very quick change in Cobb County where our sheriff began the program in July, here are some predictions:
ID theft crimes will decrease. Illegal aliens will begin to migrate out of Hall County. Employers will whine that they must pay a higher wage and improve working conditions to get legal workers. Parasitic ethnic hustlers who encourage and feed on continued illegal immigration will begin to howl that any enforcement of the law that affects the illegals who are their golden goose is “profiling” and, sooner or later, “racist”.
For his using 287(g), we had a rally on the courthouse steps here to thank our sheriff, Neil Warren, and flooded his office with phone calls of appreciation. I hope that something similar happens in Hall County. Bravo Sheriff Cronic!

Inman still seeking justice after 7 years
Union Sentinel – Blairsville,GA,USA
Inman’s goal is to stop illegal immigration. He has devoted much of his time to his website legalamericanfolks.com. and to the Dustin Inman Society. …
We were on our way to Hiawassee for Father’s Day weekend. We were going to make a memory… to fish and spend time as a family,” states Billy Inman.
Inman, a Woodstock resident, is talking about the car crash on June 16,2000 in Ellijay that took the life of his 16 year old son Dustin, and put wife Kathy in a wheelchair. Accidents happen all the time but part of the devastation of this particular accident is the inability to get justice against the man that took the life of Inman’s only child. Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez was charged with vehicular homicide for slamming into the Inmans’ Grand Am. Dustin was killed on the scene and Billy and Kathy were in the hospital for several days, in fact, even missing the funeral of their son.
Gonzalez was injured in the crash and transferred from an Ellijay hospital to a medical facility in Dalton. A police officer was with Gonzalez. He was mistakingly released from the Dalton hospital after treatment and has been on the run since. The Inmans’ story has been featured in papers such as the Marietta Daily Journal, and the Pickens County Progress and has also been featured on America’s Most Wanted. Billy Inman has been relentless in the search for Gonzalez. He has also been active in his pursuit to stop illegal immigration.
Gonzalo Harrell- Gonzalez.
“My son is not coming back. My wife has health struggles. Nothing will change those things. What I want to do is prevent this from happening to other folks,” stated Billy.
The search to find Gonzalez has been an up and down roller coaster over the years. A man in Birmingham, Alabama was arrested but authorities later ruled it to be Gonzalo’s brother. The latest tips that Inman has received was around 6 months ago. The tips came from the Texas area but nothing has yet panned out.
The photo of Gonzalez that Inman has to use on his website, flyers and other information came from Gonzalez’s North Carolina issued driver’s license. All that was needed at the time was a proof of residency to obtain one. Now, North Carolina is in the process of passing an Immigration Reform Act that will prevent that in the future.
Inman’s goal is to stop illegal immigration. He has devoted much of his time to his website legalamericanfolks.com. and to the Dustin Inman Society. This organization was created by activist D.A. King and Inman. Their purpose is to educate the citizens of this country about the effects of undocumented immigration.
“I just want everyone to face the same justice system. A documented citizen can be found. If there are no documents linking a person, it’s as if they don’t exist in this country. Gonzalez has three kids. Our government is here to help ensure they are fed but I get no justice for mine,” stated Billy.
Inman’s latest debut as spokesperson was at a meeting in Cobb County on the night of our interview, (January 7). The meeting was called due to Hispanics and African-American’s claims of being racially profiled by police. The Cobb County council called to ask Inman to speak about his own struggles. Inman called the Sentinel office the next morning stating, “It went good.”
Inman’s wife Kathy will continue to have surgeries to try and regain use of her legs and Billy will continue his quest for something he believes in and Dustin Inman will live in the memories of many people, forever.

Require a check of workers’ citizenship
Absent the promised protection of secure borders and enthusiastic enforcement of our nation’s immigration and employment laws from our federal government, the Georgia General Assembly should continue to do what it can to make life uncomfortable for illegal employers and black market labor.
A very effective tool and one that has been implemented in other states would be the requirement that all employers in Georgia use the no cost federal data base called E-Verify, which verifies the eligibility to work in the United States for all newly hired employees.
At present, only public employers and their contractors are required to use this available tool.
Employing an illegal alien is a felony, and illegal employment is the root of our national illegal immigration crisis. The howls from the criminal employers will show their true colors when the threat of having to pay a living wage to legal labor is even mentioned as a possibility.
The fact that illegal immigration is considered by many to be a separate, unconnected issue from declining wages for low-skilled workers, taxes, education, the economy, health care, traffic congestion or the dilemma of providing water to a soaring population is sadly laughable to those who study the issue.
The United States is taking in more than a million legal immigrants each year, and more than another million illegal aliens. A large part of the solution to many of our problems is not difficult to see.
Memo to the Georgia Legislature: Let’s start using the readily available tools at our disposal to start shutting off the employment magnet that creates illegal immigration and watch as many of our other problems begin to shrink instead of grow.

Dear DA
I am so disappointed that our two Senators decided to endorse McCain.
Sen. McCain is not a friend to be relied on as far as fighting to close ranks against illegal immigration. The Sen. is a person who will hang with anyone who he feels can help him become President Of The United States. He will hang with illegals if he felt they would be of help to him.
John McCain is not a conservative. He should have a “D” next to his name on the ballots because he is for sure not a Republican. And he keep calling himself a “Reagan Republican”. Poor President Reagan must be spinning in his grave every time McCain says that. Just like President Bush lies when he says over and over again that his main job is “to make sure Americans are safe.” Hell if he really wanted to protect us he would have built the fence the day after 9/11. As far as I’m concerned the president is a traitor to all Americans.
I will be writing to both of our Senators asking why they are endorsing McCain.
Please keep up the great job you are doing in helping fight against illegals. You are a great American and we all lokk to you for leadership in this most difficult endeaver.
