D.A.’s Mexican matricula consular ID cards in a Mexican newspaper: Reposted
September 12, 2006
One of my matricula consular ID’s on Google…and in a Mexican newspaper
Being the proud owner of my own Mexican matricula consular ID cards (I have three, the name on one I keep to myself) has proven invaluable to illustrate the ease of forgery and access to these little laminated stealth amnesty cards.
A Mexican newspaper, El Porvenir in Monterrey, has posted an article on its site (under “legal”) that reports on the efforts in Mexico to convince the Mexican House of Representatives to accept the matricula consular ID…like the United States does.
To understand the Mexican matricula consular and the banking industry’s blatant disregard for any effort at Homeland Security, please read the September BLOG post here.
Photos from the 2005 Hold their Feet to the Fire event here.
HERE for a flyer.
You can join D.A. King, Roger Hedgecock and a record number of talk show hosts from all over the country in the “Hold Their Feet to the Fire” trip to Washington DC, April 21-25, 2007. This visit to our nation’s capital (including the Capitol building) is an experience you will never forget.
This trip includes training you will use to lobby the House of Representatives and Senate to do the right thing and secure our borders now! You can start now by downloading the information (flyer) about the trip by clicking here. You may copy this document and provide it to as many of your friends, relatives and co-workers as you like.
You will have the opportunity to tour the many wonderful sights, museums, monuments and historical treasures in and around Washington DC. Previous visits have included a “behind the scenes” tour of the Capitol hosted by Congressman Brian Bilbray and Congressman and Presidential candidate, Duncan Hunter. There are early indications a similar tour may be hosted by Congressman Bilbray once again this time. This is something which cannot be missed! You will see and learn things you will treasure for life. It makes you proud to be an American.
Current plans include a rally in front of the White House (this promises to be even bigger and better than 2005!). There are also plans for a dinner to benefit the Border Patrol Agents who were wrongfully prosecuted and convicted for doing their jobs of securing our border against illegal drug smugglers. On the last evening is a wonderful dinner to wrap up the event.
Each day, after you lobby the House members and Senators, you will have the opportunity to come to “radio row” where talk show hosts from all over are broadcasting live and report your experience to be shared with listening audiences from all over the country. You can make a huge impact with your lobbying efforts.
Mark your calendars now for April 21-25 for this incredible event. Please encourage all of your friends and relatives to join you there. If you have any school age children, you may also wish to consider the incredible education they could obtain by joining you to experience first hand, our federal government in action.

Price Challenges Others to Help Close Illegal Immigration Loophole
Washington, DC – Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement today after co-sponsoring the Photo Identification Security Act (H.R. 1314). This legislation would stipulate the specific forms of identification necessary to attain a credit card or bank account.
“The current loophole in federal law is an invitation to illegal immigration,” said Price. “We should not reward those coming here illegally by allowing them the services afforded to American citizens, which results in back-door amnesty.”
“The current law does a disservice to the American people and our financial institutions. I am confident that greater clarification in this area will help stem the tide of illegal aliens, which has been promoted due to a lack of clarity on the issue.
“Our financial institutions should not be operating under obscure parameters that do not serve our nation. In working with the banking community, we can strengthen these regulations to help protect America. I call on all Members of Congress to join in this important work.”
Highlights of the Photo Identification Security Act:
Any official business with the federal government or financial institutions will require one of these forms of identification:
A Social Security card with a government-issued identification card (including state driver’s licenses)
U.S. or foreign passport
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Photo Identification Card
Mexican government-issued Matricula Consular Cards are not accepted.

The below from Bob Barr in the March 2, 2007 Washington Times:
Immigration indigestion
By Bob Barr
Published March 2, 2007
It is often said that “politics makes strange bedfellows,” but it is the immigration debate that is making even stranger bedfellows — causing otherwise conservative Republican members of Congress to clamor for draconian restrictions on businesses and for greater mandatory use of Social Security numbers.
When word surfaced recently that some banks, such as Bank of America, were allowing individuals to open accounts, apply for credit cards and obtain home mortgages even though they did not possess a Social Security number, it was not Big Government Liberals who rose up in arms to stop “greedy” financial institutions from offering such services. It was Small Government Republicans, like Colorado’s Tom Tancredo and Californians Ed Royce and John Doolittle, who waxed indignant that banks engaged in such a free market activity as extending credit to someone who proved creditworthy but did not have a Social Security number.
The reason for this strange behavior by otherwise conservative Republicans? Illegal immigration. From fear that allowing banks to continue engaging in commercial transactions such as extending credit to persons without Social Security numbers encourages illegal immigration, conservative Republicans have introduced legislation prohibiting financial institutions from extending mortgages to anyone who cannot establish their bona fides by producing a valid Social Security number. Some apparently go so far as to consider prohibiting banks from even issuing credit cards to such individuals.
Thus is being writ another chapter in the long and unfortunate march of the Republican Party to the pinnacle of Big Government; a march that figured prominently in the party’s 2006 electoral losses but which continues seemingly unabated in the new, 110th Congress.
If such heretofore conservative stalwarts as Tom Tancredo and John Doolittle now champion increased government power to mold private businesses into their preferred image, is there really any hope left for the dwindling camp of Reagan Republicans who sincerely and consistently dislike government power?
This is only part of this mindless drivel from the now Libertarian former Congressman…please read the rest here.
Libertarian position on borders below…from the Libertarian National Committee Website.
The Libertarian Party has long recognized the importance of allowing free and open immigration, understanding that this leads to a growing and more prosperous America. We condemn the xenophobic immigrant bashing that would build a wall around the United States. At the same time, we recognize that the right to enter the United States does not include the right to economic entitlements such as welfare. The freedom to immigrate is a freedom of opportunity, not a guarantee of a handout.
A policy of open immigration will advance the economic well-being of all Americans. All major recent studies of immigrants indicate that they have a high labor force participation, are entrepreneurial, and tend to have specialized skills that allow them to enter under-served markets. Although it is a common misconception that immigrants “take jobs away from native-born Americans,” this does not appear to be true. In 1989, the U.S. Department of Labor reviewed nearly 100 studies on the relationship between immigration and unemployment and concluded that “neither U.S. workers nor most minority workers appear adversely affected by immigration.”
Put Barr in the “borders are too expensive” catagory.

English as official language amendment passes first hurdle under the Gold Dome
Or: What I did with my Tuesday
( Note from D.A. – the AJC seems happy to spread the message of the ACLU, but less so to report what I actually said…more on that later)
Panel OKs amendment making English official language
By BRIAN FEAGANS
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/07/07
A proposed constitutional amendment that would reaffirm English as the state’s official language took its first step toward the ballot box Tuesday, gaining unanimous approval of a House subcommittee.
English is already the official language of Georgia by statute. But Rep. Timothy Bearden (R-Villa Rica), sponsor of HR 413, said he wants to give voters a chance to cement it into the state constitution in 2008. Protecting English is critical now, he said, in light of the federal government’s inability to control the flow of illegal immigrants who aren’t assimilating into American society.
“We’re all brought together by one thing,” Bearden told members of a House Judiciary subcommittee. “It’s the bond of the English language.”
Some 28 states have an English law, according to U.S. English Inc., which advocates for English as an official language. All eight times the question has gone to voters in other states, they’ve voted “yes,” Bearden said Tuesday.
But high hurdles may await in the General Assembly, where two-thirds of both the House and the Senate must approve the resolution before it can go to voters.
Bearden had been pushing a different bill — HB 21 — that would have required Georgia agencies and communities to print documents in English only. But he dropped that effort after critics, including legal experts, said the bill could bring unintended consequences such as jeopardizing plea deals with defendants who don’t speak English well.
The new resolution lays out eight instances in which using languages other than English is allowed. They include protecting public health and safety, guarding criminal defendants’ rights, and promoting trade and tourism. An executive order signed by then-President Bill Clinton in 2000 also requires government entities that receive federal funds to provide reasonable access to speakers of other languages.
Even so, Bearden said his resolution would relieve Georgia driver’s license officials from having to provide exams in languages other than English. They currently offer the exams in at least 12 languages.
Maggie Garrett, legislative director for the ACLU of Georgia, said the resolution is unnecessary. Studies show immigrants are learning English just as fast today as in the early 20th century, she said.
But anti-illegal immigration advocate D.A. King, president of the Marietta-based Dustin Inman Society, spoke in a language all the legislators could understand. Polls, King said, consistently show widespread support for English as an official language.
PLEASE read the complete article here.
Please send a note of support and thanks to Representative Bearden here.
