WASHINGTON – While the military “quagmire” in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began.

Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.

While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That’s 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001.

While no one – in or out of government – tracks all U.S. accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year’s 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens.

I have seen Curt Thompson in action. He is an open borders salesman who does all he can to encourage illegal immigration and employment in Georgia. Yuck.

Feds move to deport Norcross state senator’s wife

Federal immigration officials appeared at the home of State Sen. Curt Thompson (D-Norcross) this week to inform him that his new wife has a deportation order against her.

Thompson, who has been an outspoken advocate for immigrant rights, said he checked Herrera’s immigration status before marrying her in April 2006.

Thompson represents state Senate district 5, a diverse district including parts of DeKalb and Gwinnett counties, where U.S. Census Bureau numbers show that about one in four of the county’s residents is foreign-born.

We look forward to seeing Senator Thompson in the halls of the state Capitol next year. More so because we know he will be fighting any further state effort to stop illegal immigration and employment.

Cherokee not using available tools aimed at illegal immigration

Earlier this year, the U.S. Census reported that from 2000-2005, Georgia suffered the highest increase in illegal immigration in the entire nation… at 114%. The next closest state? Arizona – a “border state” – with 45%.

Most Americans are beginning to realize that absent the promised federal protection of secure borders and enforcement of employment and immigration laws, we all live in border states – and counties – now.

In October, Cobb County began the process of using two very effective federal tools aimed at compliance with federal law. The Board of Commissioners also voted unanimously to recommend use of a third tool provided by the federal government for use by state and local government to enforce immigration laws.

The same tools are available to Cherokee County.

Like county governments all over the country, Cobb has realized that that local governments can – and must – take action to deter illegal employment and immigration in the communities they have been elected to protect and serve.

What a concept.

Here is what Cobb has done and what Cherokee County can do with a simple vote by the Board of Commissioners:

*Enrolled in the Basic Pilot Program, a federal data base that verifies newly hired employees eligibility to work in the U.S. Enrollment and use of the program has no cost to the employers who use it to be sure they are complying with existing federal laws.

It is a federal crime to employ an alien in the U.S. illegally. Cherokee County is an employer and should no longer ignore the fact that illegal aliens use false documents when they complete the required “I-9” form in applying for work.

Cherokee County hires contractors who also are employers. If the goal is to be sure that no taxpayer dollars go to pay illegal labor – and it should be – Cherokee County should require all of it’s contractors to use the Basic Pilot Program as a condition of being hired…as Cobb County has done. [Sadly, the Basic Pilot Program is intended for new employees only and cannot be used to check existing workers legal status.]

*Enrolled in the federal government’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements [SAVE] program that verifies the eligibility of any applicant for public benefits. Using immigration status as one of its criteria, the SAVE program is the same basic data base from which the Basic Pilot Program operates. It works to insure that no taxpayer dollars go to pay benefits to anyone not eligible for federal money sent to the county in the form of Block Grants.

In short, SAVE helps to insure that the limited taxpayer dollars go to those for whom it is intended. Rather like they do it in Mexico.

There is no cost to register with the feds and checking the eligibility of an applicant for benefits using the SAVE program costs about 25 cents.

Both programs have been available nation wide for about two years.

*With the Cobb Commissioners blessing and recommendation, Neal Warren, the Cobb County Sheriff – like the sheriff in Mecklenburg County North Carolina and many other local law enforcement agencies nationwide – has applied to the federal government for training of local law enforcement personnel to expand their existing and inherent authority to help the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency [ICE] enforce immigration laws.

This training to multiply the effects of the understaffed ICE agents was authorized in section 287 – g of the 1996 Immigration and Nationality Act. It would seem like a “no brainer” for Cherokee County to take advantage of a valuable tool that has been available for ten years. Si?

In North Carolina, Mecklenburg County began using the 287 – g training in April and by October had apprehended and built a case for deportation for more than 650 illegal aliens.

There are several proven effects of all three tools outlined here: legal residents are getting the jobs that illegals have been taking, wages are going up, Americans are receiving the benefit of their own tax dollars and illegals are leaving for counties and areas more hospitable to them.

If the Cherokee Commissioners combine the use of these tools along with taking the brave and logical step of discouraging landlords from sheltering and harboring illegal aliens [another federal crime] the result will be that Cherokee County will become a leader nationwide in fighting illegal immigration…and illegals will begin to leave.

What a concept… Si?

Congressman Warns Company Against Firing Illegal Workers

No really…it seems that to Rep. Bennie Thompson [D.Mississippi] firing illegals is “discriminatory”.

We agree…it discriminates between people who obey the laws of the United States and people who laugh at them.

From the Washington Times:

A Mississippi Democrat in line to become chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has warned the nation’s largest uniform supplier it faces criminal charges if it follows a White House proposal to recheck workers with mismatched Social Security numbers and fire those who cannot resolve the discrepancy in 60 days.
Rep. Bennie Thompson said in a letter to Cintas Corp. it could be charged with “illegal activities in violation of state and federal law” if any of its 32,000 employees are terminated because they gave incorrect Social Security numbers to be hired.
“I am deeply troubled by Cintas’ recent policy change regarding the Social Security Administration’s ‘no match’ letters,” Mr. Thompson said in the Nov. 2 letter. “It is my understanding that hundreds of Cintas’ immigrant workers have received these letters. I am extremely concerned about any potentially discriminatory actions targeting this community.”

This is not a good start from a man who is the new incoming Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Cobb watches Cherokee rental debate
Proposal would stop landlords renting to illegal immigrants

The Cherokee County commissioners may vote Tuesday on an ordinance designed to punish landlords who rent to illegal immigrants.

The Cobb County commissioners have not discussed a similar ordinance and have no plans at this time to propose one, said Cobb spokesman Robert Quigley. If Cherokee passes an ordinance, Quigley said, Cobb probably would wait to see how it holds up in court before making any decisions.

No such proposal has surfaced for consideration by the Marietta City Council.

Meanwhile, the Cherokee County commissioners may consider more than an ordinance to punish those who rent housing to illegal immigrants Dec. 5.

The board of commissioners also will consider whether to use three federal databases and programs to check whether immigrants are here legally when they apply for public assistance, apply for jobs or run afoul of the law.

During the public hearing on the housing ordinance the commissioners held last week, Commissioners Derek Good and Karen Mahurin said they wanted the county to begin using the programs by Jan. 1.

It could be part of a multipronged plan to control illegal immigration locally, Good said

Other commissioners, who received limited information about the programs only a couple of hours before the meeting, reined in Good’s call for an immediate vote.

He told the commissioners that using the programs would discourage illegal immigration locally, and that other governments, like Mecklenburg County, N.C., were already using them.

One program allows workers to check the legal status of those who apply for public benefits. [Note from D.A. this is the SAVE program]

One is for employers. [ Note from D.A. this is the Basic Pilot Program]

The last is an Immigration and Customs Enforcement training program that helps law-enforcement officers identify illegal immigrants. [ Note from D.A. this is 287 g ]

Six illegals nabbed in Atlanta airport’s secure area

ATLANTA Authorities say six illegal aliens hired to do work in the secure area of one of America’s busiest airports are now under arrest.

Investigators say all had security badges giving them access to the tarmac and other normally restricted areas at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. All six are said to be Mexicans working for a private company that was hired to do some drywall work.

The AJC buried this story as a blurb in today’s edition. Most of us recoginize that defacto open borders in a war on terror is a threat to Homeland Security. Ask yourself…how many more illegals have acccess to “high security” areas of our airports and military bases?

Here is just a glimmer of how the Bush administration and the rest of the open borders lobby is willing to trade “cheap labor” for national security.

This makes Senator Chambliss’ poll even more outrageous.

London stock trader urges move to ‘amero’
Says many unaware of plan to replace dollar with N. American currency

In an interview with CNBC, a vice president for a prominent London investment firm yesterday urged a move away from the dollar to the “amero,” a coming North American currency, he said, that “will have a big impact on everybody’s life, in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.”

Steve Previs, a vice president at Jefferies International Ltd., explained the Amero “is the proposed new currency for the North American Community which is being developed right now between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.”

The aim, he said, according to a transcript provided by CNBC to WND, is to make a “borderless community, much like the European Union, with the U.S. dollar, the Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso being replaced by the amero.”

Previs told the television audience many Canadians are “upset” about the amero. Most Americans outside of Texas largely are unaware of the amero or the plans to integrate North America, Previs observed, claiming many are just “putting their head in the sand” over the plans.

We know it difficult to admit to yourself…but the President of the United States has no intention of ever securing the borders…quite the opposite. And many – most – elected officials would rather ignore it than risk re-election problems.
