Summary:

More insight? Despite the fact that it is a federal offense to transport illegal aliens, GALEO counts as an “accomplishment” on its website of working with other leftist groups to organize a massive bus trip to Washington, D.C. in 2010 to march for another amnesty. GALEO also boasts of its lobbying against local police honoring detainers from federal immigration enforcement officials so that criminal illegal aliens are not released back onto the streets of Georgia from local jails.

President Barack Obama has nominated a DeKalb County State Court judge Dax Lopez, for the lifetime position as a federal judge in the Northern District of Georgia. Because he has served on the board of directors for the Atlanta-based activist, anti-immigration enforcement and far-left Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials since 2004, Republican Dax Lopez should never become a federal judge.

While Georgia suffers more illegals than Arizona, and Gov. Nathan Deal says we are spending at least $2.4 billion each year on the crime of illegal immigration, anti-borders GALEO lobbies for amnesty and has marched in Atlanta streets demanding we stop enforcement of our immigration laws. Wanna-be federal judge Lopez has made it clear that he “agrees with GALEO’s mission” -- which includes a strong stands against English as our official language and active opposition to voter ID.

Known around the state Capitol as “angry Jerry,” GALEO’s Executive Director Jerry Gonzalez is also remembered for stalking and screaming at Rome’s diminutive Republican state Rep. Katie Dempsey before being removed by Rome police from the property where a panel discussion on E-Verify was being held.

Lopez says he is a Republican, but when he ran for election in 2012, he was supported and endorsed by Democrats Jason Carter and Roy Barnes. He should be described as “a Jerry Gonzalez, Jason Carter, Roy Barnes Republican.”

Neither Lopez or anti-enforcement GALEO should be considered “in the mainstream” by our Republican senators and Lopez’s nomination should be blocked. Already, several Georgia sheriffs and state legislators have made public their letters of vehement opposition to further consideration of Lopez for the federal bench. If your Republican state official hasn’t, a great question is “why not?”

Georgia’s U.S. Sens. Johnny Isakson and David Perdue can stop the confirmation process before it starts and end any danger of rewarding GALEO’s Lopez with the lifetime title of “federal judge.” That demand should be presented to their offices by concerned voters.
